2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

I’ve come around on this. People want us to start adding FAs and climbing out of the rebuild but we dont have this yet. Bedard is now a question mark at that position rather than guaranteed.

We need a 1C before we start to add.
I'm all for continually adding to the center depth as I don't think you can have enough and you need to be strong down the middle, especially if Bedard and Nazar end up being better fits on the wing. If they went something like Misa, Jack Nesbitt, and Eric Nilson with the 1st 3 picks, I wouldn't complain one bit.

As I’ve said before, I hope we only win this lottery if we finish as the worst. Misa at #2 would still be great, and having 26 be lucky and bringing in McKenna would be even better.

If we do somehow end up #1 and Schaefer is that much better than Misa, I think we really consider trading Korchinski for some young forward players.

This even with lack of talent to help Bedard I still draft Schaefer if given the opportunity. I would make a contract to Marner he couldn't refuse and then use 26 1st and 27 1st plus Korchinski to acquire another young winger/center if one becomes available like Byfield

Kings aren’t doing that lol

Another great performance from Anton Frondell today. He scored the gwg in overtime in the first game of the playoffs. He also had an assist earlier in the game.

At this point it feels like Frondell or Desnoyers will be the pick if we are selecting third of fourth.

Trading away the Hawks first in the Gavin McKenna draft is a fireable offense.

Maybe but if the Hawks in position to draft McKenna, then Kyle from Chicago had better be looking for another job. I do not want the Hawks to be in position to draft McKenna.
Anyone in bottom 10 is in a position to draft McKenna.

You might as well start writing your GM Career Opportunity post right now. The Hawks will undoubtedly be bottom 10 in the league. Probably bottom 5.

I'm leaning this way myself. Now that Knight is our starter, I can't imagine they finish below 8th worst if he gets 60 starts. The slim chance of McKenna should up the value of the pick anyway. This team needs tangible assets now, not wet dreams. A bona fide, established u25 player that's 75% of what McKenna could be is what this team needs, not an at most 25% chance at the kid.

If Kyle skips free agency, then sure. The Hawks have to start being competitve.
We can't make people sign here. Please name 3 players with a high probability of signing here and making a difference.

We need AT LEAST 3 bonafide NHL'ers that are in a top 6 role to get out from where we are, as well as all rookies making a big step.

We ARE going to be bottom 10 no matter who signs here July 1. Hate to be the bearer of bad news for you. Kyle will also be keeping his job. The club has committed to a plan that most fans aren't patient enough for. It'll come together.
