Not having a real coach is not good for anyone down in Rockford.....wish we had a Trent Yawney type to bring Lev and KK along on the D side of things.

Right but how do you know that Moore and Korchinski aren't valued highly throughout the league? You just gave your opinion, the question was how do you know people within the league don't value them?
Korchinski and Moore are vastly overvalued in the Hawks forum. Their values as prospects from the general public as stated by guys like Wheeler and Pronman is much lower than what is mentioned here. These guys actually communicate with NHL teams and when you hear them talk about the Hawks prospect pool, those guys don't have nearly the value you think they might have from what they hear around the NHL.

Again, how do you know what the league thinks of them as prospects?

Korchinski is the 28th best prospect in hockey. Ranked by Wheeler on February 11th. Oliver Moore is 64th. So what are you talking about.

We might hope KD can move up from our Toronto 1st rounder spot ..but cannot assume hexwill succeed in that ...
If he moves up probably only 7 orv8 spots max=late teens.

Somevpister thought Ben Kindel shoukd be a target...like him but he isxanotger shrimp at 5'10 ..we have too many smallish forward prospects.

Sportsnet has Kindel at #19 ...maybe tgecsizevussue still has hom o the board at the Toronto pick unless Leafs get to Confetence Final or SC...

But even if hecisxstill there at our Toronto pick,I think he does not fitva need ....

We coukd usectge Toronto pick on Ravensberger tge #2rated goalie (big goaliexatc6'5) but taki g goalies with 1st rounderscis very risky ..

So what would be a good target with that Toronto pick ?

I am intrigued by Cole McKinney the top ustdp scorer who is a Chicago kid...

Mid -size at 6'0 200lbs he is a 2 way C who is calkedca faceoff specialist in the scouting reports.. and has shown steady scorkngbimprkvenentvover this sesson..I think a riser (Bob Mckenzie had hom only at #38but Spirtsnet in its February ranking has him upto #29..
Hevisvpkaying his best hockey right now so I think a strong fish should move him upto aroubd that Toronto pick by fibal McKenziecranjings...Turns 18 only in March ...so runway yet.

Do notvthink hecwillbe a top six C..but another great prospect for what he brings as a top faceoif guy,pk guy and 2 way 200ft gameC...
As I said his production has shown steady improvement and he is hot lately in last 10 games(9g 8a +9) with = top 2 line level offense you would expect from a top ten prospect. SO could be a great pick as late as that Toronto first we own.

So may he does have an higher ceiling than middle six C who does a lot of things well teams need..

Seems like the right kind of team needs player you want who can maybe move up the lineup from bottom 2vkibes to maybe 2C if need shoukdctgec2C go downwind injury.

Looks like safe useful player..rekablex2 way game ..maybe hevisvi vfull bloom now and if tgevoffebse he has shown so far in 2nd half continues to get better next season maybe you get a very usefulhockeybpkayer.

You usually do not get 'stars" as a mid to late 20s pick i round one .

If we have not moved up fron that Toronto pick I would rather get what I can rely on for good perfornance 2 ways plus the bonus of a facroff and a pk role guy than pick another hovh scoring shrimp or iffy big guy who does not pan out.

If with our own 2nd rounder (#34 ) (or #33 if we catch SJ for dead last), then would
take a goalie...I am fine with that...maybe even take 2 goalies with both our 2nd round picks just to cover if 1 busts...
.....maybe take a Russian goalie?

at this point in such a weak draft I want Joshua Ravensbergen with Toronto's 1st rd pick. Adam Gajan and Commeso are not looking like the guy at this point and nobody else really excited me in late 1st to early 2nd rd.

If you look at outside perspectives on Oliver Moore, there aren't a whole lot of believers that he can be a top 6 forward. A majority of sources believe he is destined to be a bottom 6 forward. Undersized bottom 6 forward prospects aren't worth a whole lot.

Korchinski is still young, but he hasn't looked good in the NHL or AHL. He gets burnt a LOT. He is good when he has to make quick decisions with the puck. Even with the puck, he isn't a special offensive talent.

If you add these two guys to a pick in the mid 20's, teams will be hesitant to want to giveaway a pick that they believe will be a top of the lineup player. They are much harder to come by than any of those 3 assets
Your opinions are not league sources

We might hope that KD can move up from our Toronto first-round pick spot, but we can’t assume he’ll succeed in that. If he does move up, it’s probably only by 7 or 8 spots at most—into the late teens.

Some posters have suggested Ben Kindel as a target. I like him, but at 5’10", he’s another undersized forward, and we already have too many smallish forward prospects.

Sportsnet has Kindel ranked at #19, so maybe his size issue keeps him available when the Toronto pick comes up—unless the Leafs make it to the Conference Final or the Stanley Cup. But even if he’s still on the board, I don’t think he fits a team need.

We could use the Toronto pick on Ravensberger, the #2-rated goalie, who is a big presence at 6’5". However, taking goalies in the first round is always risky.

So what would be a good target for that Toronto pick?

I’m intrigued by Cole McKinney, the top scorer from the USNTDP and a Chicago native. He’s a mid-sized center at 6’0", 200 lbs, known as a faceoff specialist in scouting reports, and he has shown steady scoring improvement this season. I think he’s a riser—Bob McKenzie had him ranked #38, but Sportsnet’s February rankings bumped him up to #29. He’s playing his best hockey right now, and a strong finish could push him into range for that Toronto pick by McKenzie’s final rankings. Plus, he doesn’t turn 18 until March, so there’s still room for growth.

I don’t think he’ll be a top-six center, but he’s a great prospect for what he brings—strong faceoff skills, penalty killing, and a solid two-way, 200-foot game. His production has steadily improved, and he’s been hot lately, putting up top-line-level offense over the last 10 games.

Maybe he even has a higher ceiling than just a middle-six center. He seems like the kind of reliable, two-way player teams need—someone who could start in a bottom-six role and move up to 2C if needed due to injury.

He looks like a safe, useful player with a dependable two-way game. Maybe he’s hitting full stride now, and if his offensive development continues next season, he could become a very valuable player.

You usually don’t get "stars" in the mid-to-late 20s of the first round. If we don’t move up from the Toronto pick, I’d rather take someone I can rely on for strong two-way play, plus the bonus of faceoff ability and penalty killing, rather than another high-scoring but undersized forward or an iffy big guy who might not pan out.

With our own second-rounder (#34, or #33 if we pass San Jose for dead last), I’d be fine taking a goalie—maybe even drafting two goalies with both of our second-round picks. A Russian goalie could be an interesting option.

Goalie targets for 2025 draft..

Joshua Ravensbergen i(Prince George WHL)is rated #1 ..Probably on size 6'5 192..but only has a save% of.902 which is diwn from.907 last season.. Also last season had 6 shutouts..Zero shut outs this season.

Other goalies not expected to be first round but run on them in 2nd round.is expected..

I would not take a goalie with our Toronto first rounder.

Jack Ivankovov appears 2nd on a kot of lists but tge 5'11 175 goalie has only a .902 save% this season i Brampton..but always iffycwith such a small goalie and do not like that save% ..though he has upped it over last 10GP..but too small for me.

Photo Andreyanov is only 6'0 but 207lbs...andchas a stellar .941 save% in 32GP in tge MHL this season to rank as the top Russian goalie prospect ...the only question is is this a one off season because hisxearkier history atvyoungercages wasn't as spectacular.

Semyon Froliv has both size at 6'3 203 and has posted great save% for 3 different MHL teans in Russia this season (I guess his KHL team loaned him out to to other MHL Jr teams as well as playing sone games for their own MHL Jr.team.

But he has played only 21 games so far this season combined for these 3 MHL teams ..9 GP .937 save % forc1 team ...anotger 9GP .935 save % for that team and 3GP forcthec3rd tean with a .925 save%.. so very very god accross 3 MHL teans over thex21Gp total.

Still 21Gp is a low sample sixe... He only pkayed 9MHL games last season but also posyedca hogh save^.

You just wonder why he is not playing more ganes.. Still obvious pitebtial ...yet rrates only 5 or 6th on many rankings.

Alexei Medvedev is a 6'1 172 lb goalie woth thecLondon Knights...has a .918 save% on 29Gzp to date for them..

He is ione of the youngest prospects in this draft with Sept.7th 2097 birtdate..so lotsof runway yet for development.and maybeche grows taller?

Then we have Lukas Beckman of Baie Comeau in the QMJHL ...he is 6'2 194
..he might go 4th ti 6th h goalie taken this draft ..Hasxa .915 save% so far this season..

So hard to know how Hawkscvaubted scoutibg deot. Ranks tgese goalies..but I will not complain if they use our 2st of (currently) 2c second rounders (#34 or maybe #3÷ if we catch SJ for dead lsst) to take a goalie and then package our Dallas 2nd roubderxwith our 1 3rd rounder to move back up earlier in the 2nd to grab another goalie maybe int the 40s?

Maybe 1NA goalie and 1Russian goalie?

Hoping 1 of them turns into a star#1 ekite goalie?

Million dollar question: if we pick first, do you guys think we should go Schaefer or Misa?

Or does anyone still want Hagens at 1?

I hope we finish last and get jumped by San Jose in the lottery. They take Schaeffer and leave us with Misa.

That would eliminate them from winning the lottery next year and increase our chances (albeit slightly) to land McKenna.
