Wheeler Feb top 64 out today

Tier 1 is 1) Schaefer 2) Misa 3) Hagens and 4) Porter
Tier 2 is 5)Desnoyers 6)Frondell 7)McQueen 8)Mrtka 9)Eklund 10)Carbonneau 11)OBrein 12)Bear 13)Smith 14)Hensler 15)Aitcheson

And in five years from now the order will be completely different. Go look at drafts from 2015 to 2020 and you can see that the top 5 picks are not the best five players now. The first might be but at this time we should not be too attached to certain names.

We need a couple of top tier younger talents to build around. I hope they can hit on a goalie
in one of these drafts. Gajan isn't having a stellar season, but there is time for him to improve.
Schaefer/McKenna would be a nice outcome over the next two years and just take every swing at a forward with the rest of the picks/cap space

McKenna and Bedard are also cousins. Make it happen Gary. Misa this year McKenna next year.

I can't get over what Misa would do to our FWD depth. I feel like it pushes everyone else into better positions.

Now you have Boivert/Moore competing for 3C with one or both maybe sliding into complimentary positions in the top 6.

Plus it'd give us the nuclear option with Bedard-Misa when game situations called for it.

I guess the alternative is getting Schaefer and having a good trade piece for an upgrade at FWD from whoever ends up being the odd man out.
Still believe Bedard is better served playing first line wing over the next year or two, and perhaps into the future. Misa at 1C, Boisvert at 2C, Moore at 3C. Plenty of other wing options to play up and down the lines with those three.

No Hawks made Wheeler's winter 2025 top 20 drafted NHL goalie prospects ranking. Fowler, Hrabel, Augustine, Slukynsky, and Zavragin all made it. I think it's pretty likely at this point we see them take a goalie taken somewhere between the 2nd-4th rounds.
whats the adp for starting goalies right now? is it even worth spending high draft capital on one? we've spent two seconds since 2020 and neither look all that promising

That is nigh impossible. We can only win 1st overall one more time and with the sharks having last place on lock this year I sincerely doubt we finish at 32 next year and if we do there would likely be heads rolling in the front office

If we finish with the worst record and get the first pick in the draft it does not count against us.
Sharks have last place on lock already this season meanwhile I doubt we are 32nd bad next year either.

thought the max was 3 in x amount of years, thats unfortunate...is McKenna a better prospect than Schaefer?
By a thousand miles yes

then we should be concerned what they might do to 'speed it up'...one more tank year beyond this year and then see where the prospect pool is at, misa/mckenna would probably be the end of the teardown and the pool would be much more balanced
