2025 NHL Draft Thread

Of the teams in that range I don’t see a lot getting moved. I’d be willing to move 24+34 to get to 10-12 but not anything less. Not sure teams would be interested in that.

To me, the talent starts falling off around 15 to 16. I want two potential top 6 forwards with our first two picks, unless of course we get Schaefer. We have enough middle 6 prospects. Maybe Tor 1st and a 2nd round pick swap to get into the top 15.

Other than our 1st, I would trade every other pick in this draft if it meant getting a proven piece or just punting them to next year.

I’m sure you started your scouting already. Anybody you do like in the Hawks range of draft picks beyond the first?
Seen Carter Bear quite a bit over this year and last year. He's a guy I really like, might be gone by 7 at this point considering his play though.

Beyond the first? Man its rough. Kindel maybe at 34 if he drops due to his size.

I think Carter Bear will definitely be going in the top 10. I think Ryabkin falls out of the 1st. I think Gastrin is someone to look at with Tor's 1st. I think Hensler might drop a bit.

Honestly, I might not end up doing a ranking this year. I've been that unimpressed with this group.

There's going to be guys drafted mid 1st round this year that would've been mid to late 2nd rounders in last year's draft.

It hurts to watch.

But after the 1st round, I like David Bedkowski and Haoxi Wang as potential sequoia trees on our backend.

Shower thought I had: I wonder if the bad draft can be attributed to normal ebbs and flows of the draft OR could the first Bantam year when these kids were 13 in COVID be like a super key development age. I know in my playing career first year Bantam was when it became super serious with dryland and extra ice and power skating and coming off that Quebec PW Tournament where people were getting ranked and scouted... I donno just a thought.

I have no idea.

You've still got some good talent at the top with Schaefer, Misa, Martone, Hagens, etc.

So it's not like it's devoid of potential NHL all-stars.

But I don't why there's such a steep fall off.

TLEH and me he similar draft boards that weren't the NHL consensus. We didn't go full Musto and rub peoples noses in it but when I read things like Blackhawks fans consensus? Please.
Was all about Catton and Buium last year. Catton has been ever better this year which is insane. Didn't have a great WJC but no one on Canada did.

Like I give Musto a lot of credit because his guys are his guys. Mine are mine. Loved Celebrini. Loved Demidov. The next three guys I wanted? Buium, Catton and Iginla.

Doesn't need to be a pain in the ass about them but he'll go to the mat for talents he likes. I'm the same way.

Preaching to the choir my guy. Love his game. Love Buium. Said before the draft I don't have a defenseman in my top five but if if I did Buium's my guy.
