Martone's skating did not look good at all when he was on the ice for Canada at this WJHC. Maybe it takes a little while for him to pick up speed but there didn't seem to be much burst (if any) in his skating. Maybe he just had a rough tournament, I dunno.

For me he's firmly behind Schaefer, Hagens and Misa. Top 3 pick in this draft is a must for the Hawks.

I'd be willing to deal if chicago picks #1: teams are going to want Schaefer and I'd be hesitant to pick another D. Most of Chicagos top prospects are D, it's hard to justify another D BUT you must always go BPA.
If you can land a true #1 D you can always trade away another D prospect in the system for a forward. You cant pass up having an #1C and #1D.

by most accounts martone did not look very good at WJ and his skating is very AVG at best. I have him behind frondell for the hawks.

Those three games doesn´t mean a thing. Matthew Tkachuk´s skating isn´t perfect but he gets the job done. Let see how Martone plays rest of the season.

Well doesn't that mean they aren't exactly that good of prospects and we shouldn't be avoiding drafting a guy like Schaefer just because we have them? That is what it means to me.
If the kool-aid is to be believed, Vlasic-Lev, Korchinski-Rinzel, Allan-Del Mastro/Kaiser is fine enough to roll with for the near future. Now tell me the top line of forwards. Going on year three of using third liners with Bedard sounds great to me! Problem is, I'm not sure anyone in this draft is an instant top line-ready player. However, if either of Korchinski or Lev aren't trending well and defense is still that much of a need that this guy is better than what's already here, that should be enough to get KD on the hot seat.

it would be a prospect for prospect swap. KK for similar forward prospect. hypothetically it would be something like KK for Nazar. even thou they are both on the hawks.
So a middle pairing guy for a middle six forward? The Hawks have that in spades.

Because Jones for Johansen worked great for the preds..so great they had to sign Matt Duchene and trade for Turris once they realized Johansen was never gonna be the first line forward they believed him to be

To be fair, Johansen wasn’t healthy for the SCF in 2017. Had he been, I firmly believe the Preds win the Cup that year.

Hawks have years left on their rebuild until they don't...lets see some of these kids start to impact the NHL roster before passing on a guy like Schaefer if he's the clear number one because we have XYZ prospect in the pool...move Allan to RD and pair him with KK and send SJ to Dal, it makes a lot of sense anyway...once this team has less holes then position can be more of a deciding factor on the margin

Schaefer-Lev
Vlasic-Rinzel
KK-Allan

thats a deep group to build around, use every draft/offseason after to add to Bedard and Nazar and figure out goalie

Then if they’re that good to roll with in the future then they should return a good return.
