Understandable. If Ravensbergen falls to the 2nd, then I think he definitely should be in consideration. I’m hoping they consider taking a chance on one of these Russian goalies like Pyotr Andreyanov and Semyon Frolov

So it sounds like their top 5 is the following:
1. Hagens
2. Schaefer
3. Misa
4. Martone
5. McQueen

With the top 2 being basically a coin flip right now, and anyone in their top 5 being arguably worthy of the top pick. Surprised it's McQueen in the top 5 instead of Frondell; both have been hit hard with injuries this season, but think most publications have had Frondell ranked higher than RM.

Maybe it's just the games I've seen, but Frondell looks more like a mid 1st guy. Definitely not in top 5 contention.

It’s just a really weak draft. Most of these guys should be mid firsts tbh.

Take three goalies past the fifth round. Idc. Used the 35th pick on a guy who might be 4th or 5th best currently in his own class. Next year he could be the best again or have to transfer to get playing time.

Aka.. goalies are random as hell.

Doneghey confirmed they will at least take a goalie every 2 years.

Hawks have two 2nds this year, 3 the next, and 2 after that. Probably add another one or two after the deadline as these are given out like candy on Halloween.

Kirby Dach like upside? Just kidding..maybe but Frondell is really smart player with high hockey IQ and could become reliable two-way center who can score too.

Same could be true of McQueen.

I'm just saying that the collection of 6'5", good skating, and silky hands is more unique than Frondell's package which is a bit more "dime a dozen" so to speak.

At their apex, McQueen is a rarer breed.

That is true. McQueen´s ceiling is probably higher but Frondell´s floor might be better.

Frondell was third in latest McKenzie´s list (september 19th):

"Swedish centre Frondell is another prospect scouts find easy to like.

At 6-feet and 196 pounds, he already has strength and physical maturity. He has a strong attention to detail slant to his game and a high hockey IQ – both with and without the puck.

He probably projects more as a No. 2 NHL centre rather than a No. 1 because his offensive productivity is not necessarily elite, but his all-around game is excellent. Which is to say he can generate offence both by scoring and making plays, but he also is dedicated to a smart defensive game that includes a healthy amount of physical play.

“He’s just a really good two-way centre with all the tools,” one scout said.

Frondell received votes from No. 2 to No. 6 and six of the 10 scouts had him at either No. 2 or No. 3."

Frondell is more of a two-way guy instead of an offensive generator. He can do both though. After the top 4, I wouldn't mind Frondell at 5, but there really aren't a whole lot of options.

My nightmare scenario is the Hawks go on a heater in the final 5 games of the season and draft like 7th oa and reach for Lynden Lakovic. He is the exact type of player Davidson likes to draft and it scares me to pieces. Like a taller Oliver Moore.

Frondell/Desnoyer/Bear/Mcqueen are all fine picks. We'll see as we get closer. Mcqueen's back injury is a bit scary
