When has a team in the NHL traded back from 1 OA? How many times has that pick been traded period? I can’t think of any without googling.

You’re dreaming if you think they’re going to trade from 1 to 3 or 4. Those teams will likely have the same opinion of the players to where it doesn’t make sense to jump up.

1999, 2002 and 2003 it appears were times in recent history of draft day trades of #1

1999
The trades: On draft day, the Canucks trade Bryan McCabe and a future first-rounder (no. 11) to the Blackhawks for the no. 4 pick, then send that pick and two third-rounders to the Lightning for the no. 1 pick. Then the Canucks send the no. 1 pick to the Thrashers for the no. 2 pick and a third-rounder.
The Sedin draft maneuvering

Thrashers drafted - C Patrik Stefan

2002
The trade: The Blue Jackets trade the no. 3 pick and the right to swap picks in 2003 to Florida for the no. 1 pick.
Blue Jackets selected - LW Rick Nash

Jackets finished ahead of Panthers the next year so pick swap never materialized so poor thinking by Panthers GM there

2003
The trade: The Panthers trade the no. 1 pick and a third-rounder to the Penguins for the no. 3 pick, a second-rounder, and Mikael Samuelsson.
Pens selected - G Marc Andre Fleury

Apparently Martonevhas been playong Crnter thisxseadon and hosvpkay-making has improved..so maybe he still geysctye advantage over Michael Misa?

Anyway we get to see quite a few draft eligible Centers tonight iin the CHL-USA Top Prospects Challenge Game 1 from London Ontario starting at 7pm ET..

Game televised in Canafa on TSN and I believe in USA on NHL Network..

Game 2 of the 2 game series goes tomorrow night at 7pm ET from Oshawa Ontario...

The question is :
Does quantity of talent beat team familiarity and co-hesion
Tge Canada team has 15 A rated 2025 draft eligible on it vs. Only 2 from the USA...but the USNTDP u18 squad has played together as a team this season and earlier as a u17 squad ...
Canada has a squad of players assembled from the OHL,QMJHL and WHL ..

Will post my impressions after the game tonight and also tomorrow night.

Note: I corrected the info on the Canadian telecast..it is onTSN not Sportsnet...

Misa is pretty good on draws ..do notcsee why he moves off Center.

Martone most lists had as a power winger ..butcas I said according to Soirtsnet's Sam Cosentino Martone is pkaying Center this season and he says his playmaking has vastly improved ...
MISA was praised priorto this season for his playmaking....
more than for sniping..but this season his goal scoring has reached another level..

Nazar is actually lot like Point but less, refined? Hard to put a finger on it. Point even at the same age was a lot more efficient and obviously has that world class shot.

Still a ways to go. I think Point's in a whole other tier but he even becomes 75% of what Point is that's a very very useful player.
