I think we are realistically in the 3 or 4 spot by the end of the year. Subtract Lindgren, Borgen, Vesey, Smith and maybe Quick, at minimum, and we are way down there with a serious shot and any of the top 4 guys. Add Kreider to that mix and maybe Z and we could really lock in 3. No chance we drop enough to pass Sharks and Hawks. They are way too far down. We would need a miracle, or a trade, to get 1st overall.

BUT, maybe it plays out as it does, we get the 3rd or 4th pick, and I could see the Sharks and Hawks liking Schaefer and Martone more for their teams based on what they already have.

We should do what it takes to get Hagens. Maybe even let him and Perreault do another year in college while we keep clearing house and get another high pick for 26.

Have Hagens and Perreault join the team the same year as McDavid. Works great.

Schaefer is #1 on my board despite his injury. Shouldn't affect him long term.

Martone looks great but I still don't expect him to be off the board before Hagens unless his combine interviews hint towards him not wanting to sign with that team or wanting to stay in school all 4 years as has been rumored.

Misa is tailor made for the Hawks roster right now. Perfect guy to slot in behind Bedard to be a 1/2 punch. Martone and Bedard together would look intriguing too. Time will tell.

I don't see Buffalo taking a defenseman. Martone or Hagens for them.

It drops off after #4. The Rangers will need some lottery luck to end up in that top tier. After #4, it's a bunch of risks and gambles.

I'm having the typical Ranger fan doom and gloom. If we are in a position to draft Hagens, we pick someone else. If we are like #3 or #4, Hagens will get picked right before us. This franchise cannot draft an impact center to save their lives.

Then I happily take Misa.

I'll go on record and say that there's not much separation between he and Hagens. Hagens tires are getting pumped here because he plays with Perreault at BC. He's no where near the prospect Jack Hughes was.

Someone else is going to sneak (or push) their way into the top 5-7 like they do every year.

Based off of what I've read, I'd guess at this point it'll be Carter Bear and he sounds like a Ranger pick but he's got the numbers and it sounds like he's got the goods overall. Compete, wheels, ability and LEADURSHHHIIPPP! The black book folks love him.

But at least in this case the intangibles are part of the package instead of the featured characteristics.

Yeah Bear’s been a big riser this year. I think he’s one of the best tier 3 guys this year so far

BPA is always important but I'm so tired of our donut organization that has lacked depth at center for the last 30 years. I don't know how to resolve the conflict in my heart.

In all seriousness I hope this losing streak continues at this point. The higher the pick the better. We should consider ourselves lucky if we land in the top 5. All the recent praise has shifted away from Hagens a bit and more toward Schaefer and Martone. The odd man out has been Michael Misa. Better for us. He's really, really talented. Misa would go first overall in a few of the recent weaker drafts for sure. He may not be Connor Bedard but there's elite 1C upside there. And I like that he's been used on the PK, he can be an all situations guy.

Misa would be great. I just know this shit franchise wouldn't take him. Skates too well.

Well, we can always pick the guy and ruin his skating.

I guess I'll have to scout this draft year at some point. Because I'm not remotely sold on picking D high, need to watch some Schaefer. What I saw from Misa is OK, Frondell personally I like a bit more, but we absolutely have to keep injuries in mind.

We 100% have to aim for the highest pick possible. Let's see how the two games go on the weekend.

Let me guess? He needs to work on his skating?

2025 Draft Eligible. LD with a lot of bite to his game. Early mock drafts had 20-30 range. I think that is going to change with him going in the 12-20 range. I like this kid's game. Has good instincts. Has good skating. Blocks alot of pucks. Wins a lot of battles. He's not a throwback player but more of a modern two way with bite to his game.

after a win i'm convinced we trade our 1st
We've only traded completely out of the 1st round once since Drury has been here, and even that was only because he made the condition an ECF trip rather than a SCF trip. I'd be very confident we have our pick come June

I feel terrible for any of these top prospects playing scoreboard roulette every day watching the Rangers fall down the standings. Maybe Schaefer intentionally hurt himself lol.

Playing in NYC is really only great if your organization knows how to turn you into a great hockey player. We’re legitimately going to ruin one of these guy’s careers.
None of them are thinking that

Petteri Rimpinen has been outstanding for Finland in net in the WJC's. He's played all the games and came in to today's game with a .941 save % and he's putting on a show again today against Sweden.

Another goalie who did really well was Linards Feldbergs for Latvia who ended the tournament with a .929 save % and their final game they were badly outshot by the Swedes but kept it close 3-2.

As far as the names I think Hagens has shown me he's the top player for the draft as of now. Some people had Martone but Hagens has been a factor in the tournament.....Martone not really. Schaefer might have challenged him but was knocked out early with an injury.

I just really dont want Chicago to get #1 overall. That org has had so much luck. They deserve to be in the basement for another 10 years

Where did I say they’re thinking anything?

I said every time the Rangers lose, one of these elite young hockey players is one step closer to having the shit misfortune of being drafted by us. A franchise that doesn’t know its ass from its elbow when it comes to player development. A franchise that would be mentioned in the same breath as the Columbus Blue Jackets if it wasn’t located in the heart of New York City.
