Reid would be one of the worst picks at 16/17 for me. A small soft defensive D? No thanks. The only thing that justifies taking a small defenseman is supreme offensive ability and skating. This guy has neither, being just “not bad” in those areas. He reminds me of Cam York, but with slightly lesser offensive skills. This is the last type of player MTL needs. Wheeler’s takes are always cracked. Then again, Pronman having us take Jackson Smith makes no sense either - we’ve got Hutson and Guhle on the left side for years to come, and Smith isn’t a BPA, “can’t miss” type of talent. Just dumb.

Anyway Carbonneau remains my guy at 16. My hot take is he will have a better NHL career than Martone will.

My hot take is his game won't translate - skilled selfish player with IQ of a potato
#4D and 3rd liner upside respectively. Two of the oldest players in the draft and both have rather pedestrian numbers as well. No thanks.

Hensler, Spence, Reschny, Fiddler, Bear, McQueen, Aitcheson, Lakovic, even Zonnon. There are so many interesting prospects if we want to take 2 swings here. I'm only trading if its for an established young 2C, or Crosby, otherwise I think there's great pieces that could be helpful to winning a cup in this range.
