Player Discussion Former Habs & Picks watch: Gone but not forgotten (No Current NHLers) II

Oh nice, convenient for them, will no longer have to text each other during intermission to tell his son to do opposite of what staff tells him :sarcasm:

Just to keep up tradition, his father as a coach will tell him something during the game. And then he will go in the coach's room during intermission and text Alex not to listen to his coach.

Speaking of Chucky this popped on my FYP today. I wonder if he has all the crunchy details :slaugh:

For a long, long while I thought I remembered CuJo being the one that let in “the” Ovechkin goal until Brian Boucher talked about it during some random game I was watching a few years ago. Thank god I never had to embarrass myself with that question at a trivia night :sarcasm:

Ça t'as Boucher tout un coin hein?

He was already no longer a Habs prospect. They apparently released his rights last year. Him and Pitlick. But they surprisingly kept the rights to Ty Smilanic.
I think Pitlick we were automatically losing his rights for going back for a fourth year because he started school like three years late regardless. Can you even hold the rights of a drafted NCAA prospect if they're already 25? I thought it was a number of years with a dash of age in there where you lose the rights at 24 or something.

But yeah Biondi never got signed so his rights would have expired regardless. I wonder if transferring schools has something to do with it or he simply asked Hughes to release his rights if they weren't going to sign him.

On the other note perhaps Smilanic asked for some time away since he didn't sign anywhere else this year and even left the NCAA early to sign here against the advice of Hughes. Perhaps he just really needed money for something last year and wants away from hockey too.

Cause he completely fell off as a prospect in Wisconsin after being pretty decent at Quinnipiac.

Definitely more to the story that will probably never come out.

''Remember back in the shortened 2013 season when the Montreal Canadiens looked like they had their future set? When it seemed like Alex Galchenyuk was poised to be a big part of the franchise for the next 15 years? Yeah—Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Remember when Galchenyuk looked like a surefire star in the making? Pepperidge Farm remembers that too.
So… what happened?''

''How does a player who once had the hockey world at his fingertips end up bouncing from team to team, struggling to find a home? How does a young cornerstone of one of the most storied franchises in sports go from being a mainstay in Montreal to well this?
What went wrong? Let’s dive in, boys.''

"Aussi, visite surprise de P.K. Subban! Il vient nous jaser des derniers matchs du CH et nous partage ses impressions sur les sujets d'actualités. Patrik Laine et Xhekaj on fait quoi?"

Chipchura is a cautionary tale. He was a terrific player in junior until he was injured. No one realized the impact until after he was drafted
Chipchura was a good potential player in 2004 when the NHL still had clutching and grabbing. The lockout happened after his draft and the rules changed which made players like Chipchura less effective. He was well below a PPG in his draft year, he was never going to be anything other than a 3C.

I watched him many times with Prince Albert He was their best player and I agreed with the Habs taking him at the time. A smart player who transcended his stats. The injury killed his skating.

Totally agree. And it was the take of a lot of people....

Former Hab Matteau retires. Habs' acquired him when they traded DSP to the Devils in 2016.

He played a year and a few months in the Habs' organization. When they acquired him at the 2016 TDL, he played 12 games with the Habs, where he put up 1 assist.. The following year, he played in the AHL (St. John's IceCaps), where he put up 25 pts (12G, 13A) in 67 GP.
