HF Habs: 2025 NHL Draft: Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Is Martin seen as a top 6 C or more of 3C?

Curently, 2C/3C tweener. Middle 6 player.

However, his numbers are really comparable to Nazem Kadri in his draft year. Kadri has an October birthday, so it was his 18th year, while Martin is a true 17 year old.

Kadri also had help in the form of John Tavares & John Carlson after he was traded to London Knights from Kitchener Rangers just before his draft season.

Good comparison. Martin likely gone by our pick.

Krebs went from a likely top 10 pick to 17th after his knee injury, but that was a strong draft. In this draft I don't think Bear falls quite as far.
If he’s available when the Habs pick, I think they need to take him. I don’t how many other prospects who would be available at that pick has the same upside as him.

Every draft has a Carey Price huh

People started ranking Schaefer 1st after 2 wjc games don't count Misa out.

Currently we have picks #15 & #17. I'm definitely good with Carbonneau at #15. I'm not a huge Reid fan. I'm not big on small D unless they have a tremendous offensive package like Hutson. I don't think Reid does. Plus, he's a LHD.

I'd take any of the 6 players after him though & Nesbitt.

I'd try package both our picks together and move to around 11 or 12. Draft Martin or Mrtka.

If can't, Nesbitt could be an option. I see a Cal Ritchie type.. A big center, decent hands/skater, Nesbitt is a touch more gritty. They usually develop late. He's really improved this season. Could be a good one

You guys think Boston could trade their #8 for #15 + #16 ?

Boston could use more picks their prospect pool is sad.
MTL don't need quantity but quality

(lets say that's the pick both teams owns)

Gives us a shot at Mrtka or Eklund, McQueen

I think they'd probably want to start their rebuild with a top 10 pick rather than two mid firsts.

Anybody that thinks we're drafting with both those picks hasn't been listening. HuGo want to make a big trade for a center and more, so one or both those picks are gone.

I tend to lean towards that POV

But

If the plan is to go UFA route, let's say we suddenly wanna target Bennett or a Duchene this might make us draft and then attempt a UFA move before trading the picks

But I'd bet on one or both picks traded

@WeThreeKings thoughts on us taking Ravensbergen if we have two picks in the 15-20 range? Any chance that happens / what are your thoughts?

I personally wouldn't go that high on him. I've got a fringe 1st round grade on him for this class.

If he's sitting there with our PIT 2nd, it'd be a nice bet. But honestly I'm looking to take Burke Hood in the 3rd round. He's come on late for Thorpes giants and he's shown some really impressive ability. Should have good eyes on him while progress checking Thorpe.

As I said on the prospect board, I find the Hagens drops a little much for my tastes, He's had some bad games but he's quick, smart and creative. Didn't have a perfect adjustment to college hockey, but he was still one of the better players in the circuit.

There is a selfish part of me that makes me anticipate a certain poster's reaction to these drops, so it balances out.

Also, Roger McQueen ahead of him seems very bold to me based off what I've seen.

I think he's a bit '' over scouted '' at this point. He's been on the radar as a 1st OV candidate for years now and there's just not much new to discover about his game . I've seen it happen before.
