If Flames pick top 10, then we’d get Florida’s pick right? Depending on how much he falls, I wouldn’t mind using a late first and risking it on Bear, if that scenario were to happen.
Is it possible that McQueen or Frondell slip out of the top 10 because of their injuries and lack of exposure this year?
Also, would trading both first round picks be able to get Montreal to move up? Is it reasonable to think that 14th + 16th could get into Desnoyers range?
I don't see Frondell slipping out in any scenario but McQueen certainly could if he really struggles over the final stretch and/or the back issues reoccur.
There is such a distinct drop off from Desnoyers' likely draft position to the picks in the mid teens that I do not think it is a scenario that has much of a chance to develop. Hughes would have to add to the offer to even have a chance of completing it. The only way that the Habs move up into the top 6 is via a draft lottery win or a late season collapse.
