HF Habs: 2025 NHL Draft: Part II

I would 100% package both 1sts to move up, seems like this may even be a year where that's possible depending on the order of the teams picking top 10. BUF, ILES, PIT, ANA are all teams I can see willing to move down. Dubas moved down like 50% of his drafts with TOR.

I don't believe Kent will do it. It put way to much pressure on the kid. Can you imagine we trade both of our first round picks to draft Caleb Desnoyers and he end up being a average player for us? The media and fans will be on him 24h.

I mean our fans are all over Mesar despite the success of Slaf Beck and Hutson. Can't be afraid to do something because our fan base has a large amount of cry babies in it.

Nope not this year. Even Frondell who is in the top 5, has a bigger than usual bust chance for a top 5.

Some years the top 5 is filled with high confidence players, some years you are way better picking multiple time in the late first round (like this year).

To be fair, in years where the top 5 is filled with high confidence players, there's no way you can trade your way in it - hence why it's worth a thought this year because some teams holding a pick from 5-8 might consider it.

On the other hand, I don't think anyone is suggesting we do (say) 13+18 for 10 either, it's far closer in value to 13+2nd rounders+B prospects than 13+18. I feel the small upgrade scenario is more likely, to target either a faller or a Martin/O'Brien/Bear shit disturber type that appears just out of reach right now.

Edit:
- based on the Matt Perri Pick Value chart from Puckpedia, 13+18 is worth pick 7
- based on the DraftProspects mock draft tool, it's worth pick 4
- I think reality is closer to 7-8-9 in a draft like this one, which is conveniently close to where trade-down aficionado Dubas sits atm

I actually watched a bit of this game. A lot of people were saying he reminds them of Dach, he actually reminds me of Shane Wright, especially with how much he circles with and without the puck. He's far more willing to shoot than Dach.

I'll be watching his games as much as possible.

Matthew Gard was outstanding in this game for Red Deer. I would love to take him with Pens 2nd if we keep it.

Sidenote on Martin:

Dubas also has a thing for Greyhounds’ players, where he once served as GM.

Brady Martin and Malcolm Spence.

I’d be very happy if Habs could get that combo. (!)

Maybe get a RD in Rd 2.

Hoping the TDL can see Habs acquire another pick in the first two rounds.

Gard is 6’4, 192.

How would you describe him?

Will you do it? Let say trade our 11th and 13th picks for Caleb Desnoyers? Or trade both our first picks for a top 10 pick?

I don't think hughes is worried about that at all

I would because I don't think the middle of this draft is so great that I need the two swings.. but I don't think anyone who is in range for Frondell/Desnoyers is trading out of it for those picks.
