HF Habs: 2025 NHL Draft: Part II

He won't be an option for us. He won't go top 2, and we won't pick 3 4 or 5.
I've only got the juniors to go on but he gives me a bad feeling and it's not because he didn't produce. I don't like his game. It looks like his size makes him a star against smaller junior players. Once in the NHL his size won't help him.

He's very good, if you like the Tkachuk brothers, you'll like him. The WJC thing isn't a proper evaluation of his abilities.

But we won't have a shot at him, he is going to fall in that range where we can't pick. We need to look at the left shot centres anyways, and luckily for us there is four really good ones, Misa and Hagens if we won 2 OA, or Desnoyers and Frondell if we can pick just outside of the top 5.

We're only 3 pts from drafting 5th overall again, so definitely a possibility.

Currently, we sit with 10th pick, but St. Louis, Philadelphia & Pittsburgh are all tied in points with Montreal.

Anaheim is one point back with 2 games in hand.

We have 2 games against Buffalo March 1st & 3rd. We also have 2 games left against Philadelphia. And we still have road games against St. Louis and Seattle.

It'll come down to how we do in those games.

Philadelphia & Pittsburgh play each other in a home and home right after the break. We're going to get passed by one of those teams.

Put aside whether we are in the range of drafting him right now. What if we end up with the 3 or 4th pick? Would you select him? I don't see the Tkachuk brothers in him.

If we have the 3rd pick, I'd take Hagens assuming Misa went 2nd. Hagens isn't as good as Celebrini who had a monster draft year in NCAA, but imo he's comparable to Cooley maybe a bit stronger.

Hagens destroyed the u18s last spring & had a really strong u20 tournament this past December. He produced far more than Cooley did at both tournaments.

Cooley was drafted directly from NTDP while Hagens is in College, but Hagens is ppg in a stronger more demanding league.

I would send Hagens back for another year of College but he should be ready by end of 2026 season.

If 4th, I think Desnoyers or Frondell. I still like Martone, but I would go center.

I'd go Hagens or Misa first.. but if i am there at 4, Martone is clearly better than anyone else in the class after 4, so I'm definitely taking Martone.

I don't know who to take at 3. I would probably trade down 2 or 3 slots and pick Desnoyers. Get a 2nd next year for doing it.

I'm curious, as of now are you more Team Misa or team Hagens? If we end up drafting #2, who do you take and why?

I'd lean Hagens still, keep in mind he's playing in the NCAA so it's harder to produce than the OHL. But Misa has narrowed the gap a lot this year so I'd be happy either way.

Misa picked up his 100th point in only his 48th game. A beauty backhand pass to Chernyshov. Saginaw is currently playing the Soo.

Igor Chernyshov joined Saginaw recently and has 15 pts in 6 games now. Lol San Jose 2nd round pick, 2024 (33rd OA).

Chernyshov now with 10 goals and 8 assists in 6 games....That's a bit of a joke. Sam Jose should have sent him to the AHL right away. He played 34 games in the KHL last season, the OHL is too easy for him.

Misa with 102 points (46 G, 56 A) in 48 games.

If the Fames pick end up at around 16-17, with ours around 10, would you consider swapping the Flames pick for a 1st next year with limited protection? Like top 5 or 10 protected?

Some people are saying it’s a weak draft and the team is not in a hurry to collect prospects so I’m curious to see what you think

His skating is legit weird. I have no idea how to describe it. I think he skates a bit knock kneed? Anyways, balance seems OK, but everything else about it is pretty bad.

He needs a skating coach in the worst way.
Carbonneau is that way too, he has a real funky wide skating stance that makes him waste a lot of energy for very little actual forward movement. Should be fixable at the next level, if he puts in the work. He gets where he needs to go just fine, though, so it's probably been that way for a long time.
