Anaheim’s rebuild has been weird. You’d think they’d be making more headway, but they seem to get a lot of guys just below the "elite" tier. They're good players, but outside of Carlsson, it's a lot of mid-6Fs and 3/4Ds. My favorite prospect statistical comparison between the Sharks and Ducks would be that Dickinson outscored Sennecke this year. In fewer games no less.

Totally agree he’s wrong, but found it interesting because it seems clear the Sharks are ahead. Also much easier to rebuild a d core than a forward core. Honestly we only need oneore young dman added to Muk and Dickinson, it just happens to be the hardest type to acquire. Get Schaefer and a few 4/5 RHD can round out the group.
A Rinzel/Bonk type late first would be nice to have, but if it were Dallas’ pick I’d say they’d be ready to play top 4 in about 5-6 seasons at best.

It's odd but the Anaheim rebuild didn't happen that much earlier than ours. I think Gauthier is going to shine still and MacTavish has already shown himself to be a floor guy at 20 goals at 22. There's still a ton of prospects there that haven't really been given a shot (Sennecke, Solberg, Gaucher), but having the whole Zebras debacle linger certainly didn't help.

LaCombe is looking like an absolute stud top pair D and I think Carlsson and Dostal will be top ~5 players at their respective positions during their primes. Terry, Zegras, McTavish, Gauthier, Sennecke and Mintyukov are all super valuable pieces they can either keep as a supporting cast or trade to address more pressing needs. They need a different coach and need to add some more established talent but IMO a lot would have to go wrong for them not to be a scary team in a few years.
Zegras is done there IMO. Between his attitude, his injury history and the fact he's just not that productive doesn't warrant giving him a bump from his current contract where his AAV is just under 6.

You're probably right but he's the least important of those players. Ducks are better off building a big imposing forward group around Carlsson, Sennecke, McTavish and Gauthier with Terry providing the soft skill.

I hope to hell they try to build around Gauthier. He's the one I think is way overvalued. Otherwise they have a very dangerous rebuild.
I also like the make-up of their D. Very heavy with Solberg, Mintyukov, Zellweger (even if he is on the smaller side), Lacombe and then Gudas and Trouba as the elders.

Fair enough but still a great trade by Verbeek to acquire him for damaged goods Drysdale.
LaCombe is super underrated. He should be in the same conversation as Faber and Sanderson among U25 American defensemen.

Are you referring to the knee? From what I'm aware of he looks to be over that. He's putting up some strong numbers in the AHL. Almost a ppg.
Gauthier has looked much better than Smith this year. Some around here are going to get a mouthful if they pay attention in DC the rest of the season too.
Gauthier was ass the first couple months. It's only when he got to play with Leo did he start to show signs of life.

The Sharks will draft whoever with their two 1st round picks - I think with what they have and who they draft, GMMG needs to sign two of whoever ends up being the top 5 defensemen available in free agency to kickstart the comeback. I don't want to wait another year of watching this shitty defense and Four/Five/Sixgiev...
Well, you won't have to worry about Georgiev. He's not coming back after the season is over. He was just here to eat most of the awful games that this team was going to play. Askarov has a 2 mil cap hit so it's certain he will be one of the two goalies. I'm not sure who the second guy will be but there will be some appealing options.

Will there be? Jake Allen and Alex Lyon are the only half decent UFAs. Andersen spends more time on IR than Mark Stone, Georgiev and Vanecek aren't coming back and everyone else is terrible.
Enough to fill our team’s needs for a year or two. We’re not trying to sign a legit starter.
Keep Georgiev. He is a great Russian tank commander. Can be traded if he figures out how to use his glove.

Hawks were lucky to even get to OT. They were getting pummeled in the 3rd and almost pulled off a miracle, almost.
