NFL GDT: 2025 NFL DRAFT Thread

You can play that game all you want. There are an unlimited number of what ifs in every scenario. All that matters is what actually happened.
I suppose. I'm super anal about OPSEC because my career depends on it.

That's fair. Mine doesn't, and I almost never lock my work computer. It just sits open in my office at home. I would imagine this NFL event falls somewhere in between our experiences.

If it had been somewhere other than at home or was someone besides his son, I think I'd lean toward wanting a harsher punishment. I also think this was a really shitty thing for his son to do, but ultimately not particularly harmful. Prank calls are shitty and aggravating, but as you alluded to, a lot worse could've been done.

It sad that so many talking heads are not admitting that Shedeur Sanders has a massive attitude and that led to his fall in the draft
I think his dad got his evaluation wrong. That was the very first problem. Also, when considering guys who are just average in talent, such as Mac Jones, Kenny Pickett, or guys who measurables, but watching the tape leaves you questioning like Jones/Haskins, NFL factors that in.

Teams want more than Jones/Pickett when they need a QB in RD 1, unless you are a QB guru that can coach and scheme up the QB.

Then his attitude in some meetings. If you aren't going to put your best effort, why take the meeting? Carter/Hunter didn't really have to meet with anyone past NE or JAX at the most. Any team can say they want to trade up, but it does get more difficult the further back a team is. Sanders wasn't that kind of talent, but since he thought he was, why take those interviews vs just the ones you want to do. Doing that would still pull him off some draft boards.

No team blackballs elite talent. Sanders just didn't have that.

Eli, had similar measurables to Peyton, plus Peyton was in the NFL for 6 years and performed great. Teams wanted their Peyton, so no way teams were going to pass on Eli or not trade for him.

Tangent, but the Jags never met with Hunter outside the 15 minute interview at the combine. They didn't want to tip anyone off that they were looking at him, so they avoided direct contact and did a ton of work talking to guys who'd coached him and the like. Hope someone does a full story on how that happened and what they heard someday.

Quite a few prank calls went out last week, on top of Sanders and Abdul Carter

Other players who received prank calls during the draft include the Browns' Mason Graham, the Indianapolis Colts' Tyler Warren, the Philadelphia Eagles' Kyle McCord and the Buffalo Bills' Chase Lundt.

All unrelated to the Sanders call. Which means there must've been at least one other leak.

Or the prank callers just found them on their own through other hacking methods
Do players (top 50) rated, get phone numbers by the NFL? If so, then there is a potential leak (kid could also have given it away too), if only the NFL andt their teams should have the number.

I get the later round picks on day 3, not given phones as managing up to 300 of them is a big logistical setup.

If players are using their person ones, then way more chances of their number being leaked.

Maybe, the NFL creates an App which is then used for the team to connect with the player. Comes down to how serious the NFL considers this or what other methods they can use to limit prank calls.

Hunter was a legit top talent. Tape is amazing. Then you are talking to people about his attitude, work ethic, finding out medical info (given the number of snaps he played in games in college), etc.

QB has way more variables. So, getting out in front like SF/CAR is better for them.

The media guys banging on about his interviews are all saying that it is not just one scout or GM saying he gave bad interviews...there are multiple sources that the big problem with the interviews he blamed everyone else, implying he was so much better than the players on his team,

Football is a team sport and the QB is the leader who rallys the other players. Sounds like JR rallys by insulting them

Good QBs fall on the sword when they lose and pass the flowers when they win. That's why they get paid $50 mill per, which is like $20 mill higher than the next highest paid positions.

CB can have that attitude. If Shilo was the second incarnation of Deion, he would have gone high like Hunter. QB position, can't have that mindset.

I agree 100%. QBs who blame other players for loses? They do not last

It's the NFL not the NSA. I've worked in compliance and security, device locking habits are notoriously weak pretty much everywhere. And the % of devices and accounts still on default passwords set up by IT departments would shock you. And it doesn't really matter what the official policy is either. Like a company may have a 'two lock' policy i.e. your device always needs to be behind two locks when not in use, but in reality maybe 1 in 10 does that. Hell, I've seen people work on highly confidential business projects with their screen in full view of me i.e. the guy in the row behind them on the airplane.

What I'm saying is that most of the public is lackadaisical about that stuff, so I'm not sure why we'd expect a football coach to be much more rigorous. Shedeur Sanders' draft phone number doesn't actually rank very highly on the list of protected information. I mean what *is* the worst thing you think someone could have done with the phone number that goes to some prepaid phone he uses just for the draft?

Should have ordered him 100 pizzas for delivery, or worse, one pizza from Papa John's

the Browns are a perfect fit for him

This is Manzeil all over again

He’s thrown 3 massive parties already and performing his unreleased single and bragging about how he brought 4 seperate vehicles to the club.

Meanwhile Cam Ward and Dart are talking about how crazy NFL play books are in size and how they are approaching the binder in small chunk just to get a small foundation to work from.

Ward was all business at the draft. I was impressed. I hope he succeeds.

He faces an uphill battle considering he was picked by the Titans who have historically struggled to develop QBs.

After this, he'll be on a very short and thin leash with the Falcons. It's not much of an OPSEC issue, but not being able to follow corporate policy on securing private information. Even if it's a burner phone number (sad to see so many people shocked that such things exist), it would still be considered Protected Information and must be secured.

The fact that the number was on his personal iPad was why he got into so much hot water. It's the same reason companies aren't keen on business being done on Messenger or WhatsApp.
