NFL GDT: 2025 NFL DRAFT Thread

The fact the entire league wasn't willing to take a chance on who could be the best CB in the draft out of concern tells me it's worse than we all thought. Hell, Simmons still got drafted in the first coming off a major leg injury.
Yep. Biggest tell was J. Harbaugh passing with the Chargers pick. He coached him for 2 seasons at Michigan and knows the staff there. He'd get the most truthful answer out of anyone in the NFL.

once again, the ravens just sit back and watch talent fall into their laps

seems like everyone knew starks would drop to them

We'll know just how bad it is if guys like Revel and Amos and even Benjamin Morrison with his hip injury get picked before him.

LOL

Louis Riddick with a great point. His father can call out the media all he wants

facts is 32 teams did their homework, and these teams have resources that rival federal policing agencies, and they decided to go another direction. The media didnt make them do that

With Sanders, it comes down to talent vs attitude. He doesn't have the perceived talent coming into the NFL to offset the attitude he has. If he came in with Luck or Lawrence's measurables but same attitude, he's going #1 OA.

Fair enough. If it works, you’re right it’s all gravy. I just maintain a healthy dose of skepticism that the Falcons will be able to effectively land this plane given everything about the Atlanta Falcons.

Falcons own pick this year was 15. If they finish in around that or better, I think it ends up being a push. Jax is the greater risk, but got the higher end talent.

Both Jax and ATL in weaker divisions with 1 other good team (Hou and TB). NO/CAR and IND/TEN have questions at QB.
Agree with SH. I actually really like the trade.

First, the gamble...if the Falcons end up with (another) top-10 pick next year, then the Rams just destroyed them.

However, if they get a pick later than that, they basically (other than the other trade fodder included) just accelerated their '26 first pick to 2025. I love the picks as well. Jalon falling to them was fantastic and Pearce was rated the 3rd-6th best pass rusher in the draft depending on who you read.

They desperately need any sort of pass rush. Last in the league by a mile. The defense as a whole is/was a joke. They needed those picks, so I actually love this trade.

I'm not even sure it's the attitude that's causing him to drop so much as two other things: The first is the national obsession with him and how polarizing he is. The second is whether or not his style of backyard football would translate to the NFL. It reminds me of Russell Wilson in that he too came out of Wisconsin with people questioning his decision making and whether or not he could survive the NFL.

Way before their pick, I said out loud to my father "Starks is going to fall to Baltimore and they are going to take him."

Couldn't be more of a Ravens pick if they tried.

I hope the 49ers take offensive linemen tonight. I've been seeing mocks saying they will take defense, but someone needs to protect Purdy. Also, the 49ers lost a lot of players in Free Agency so refueling on Draft picks seems to be necessary.

also the baggage that comes with him. teams don't want to deal with the deion circus

I get that Deion wants his sons to succeed in the NFL level, but he should really step back and let his sons conduct themselves. People on social media are comparing the Sanders to the Mannings, uh totally different as Archie Manning ain't a blowhard to the NFL media and won't put himself in front of his sons (and soon to be grandson, Arch Manning).

Damn

Houston has some capital here
5 picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds

We honestly could just use all 5 picks

We probably need 2 OL, a WR, and a DL

A RB would be nice too

We don't pick again until R6

I think they'll trade up. They have five picks in the next two rounds, but only one is in the sweet spot in the top 45.

If anything the media has been hyping up more than anything. ESPN practically spent the whole night talking about him. The Vikings pick didn't even get a a mention like it was the 5th round because the Giants traded up and they assumed it was for him. The only "slander" he got in the media was as we got closer to the draft when insiders and the like got more intel on what the league actually thought. NFL teams don't care with draftniks and hot take artist think anyway.

Team definitely needs to spend every pick on IOL. Jared Wilson, Ratelidge and/or Frazier

Saints have done a lot of homework on Shough. But like Spencer Rattler, it’ll be a waste, except much higher

I think the kicker for some teams was Deion saying his son wouldn't play for certain teams...bet he was directing that at Cleveland so I imagine that really pissed off some people and rightly so...

At one point he said Shadeur was going to play in a warm weather city. That was long before there were all cold weather teams looking for quarterbacks.
