2025 NFL DRAFT Thread

Howard had been booed during his passing workout at the combine, but he shrugged it off as some spicy Michigan fans still bitter over Ohio State winning the national championship in January. He didn't know that a viral video of him overthrowing receivers during that workout was making the rounds online, or that he'd become the controversy du jour of the event.

News of Howard's performance even made it all the way across the pond, with a blistering headline from a British tabloid: "NFL prospect Will Howard savaged over 'worst combine performance of all time.'"

"I believe I'm the best quarterback in this class," the 23-year-old told ESPN. "I think there's unbelievable talent. But if you're going to be a competitor, at the end of the day, you have to have that belief in yourself, and I think that's what helps me get through those adverse times.

"S--- happens. You've got to be able to deal with it, and it's the mentally tough people that are able to overcome those things. I think in my career I've just had to do that over and over again, and I've realized it's a never-ending cycle."

Should've just taken the boos in stride instead of going for the bullshit excuse of blaming Michigan fans. Yea, they're so bitter they took a day off work and drove to Indianapolis just to boo you. Get over yourself.

Same, Will. I also think I'm the best QB in this class.

He will play some WR, but only very limited. The guy also needs to practice with the offense during the week to get his timing down with the QB. Plus, watch the extra film.
I think most people, seemingly including Hunter, underestimate just how much goes on in route trees for WRs and defensive gameplans for DBs in the NFL. That's not even touching on the increased physicality.

As you say, he will probably be out there for some 10 snaps per game or something like that offensively, but I sincerely doubt he is a full two-way player. And for the sake of his longevity, I don't think he should be.

65 or something snaps on D. No way this kid should aim to play 100 snaps a game. I think I saw a SEA DB (backup) get forced into a game and with the special teams snaps as well, go into 110 snaps or something.

No reason to blow yourself out on the rookie contract for $35 mill total for 4 years. You can get almost that amount per year on your second contract.

NFL, it's timing. QB isn't waiting for you to get open before he releases. He's trusting you to get to the designated spot on time. So, the routes he is given, he needs to run them well.

If he plays 100 snaps a game, he won’t see a second contract. He will just get beat up too much. He probably already is.

Yep. Top 3-5 pick is like $33-36 mill on the 4 year rookie deal. Can't do anything til after year 3. So, he's playing 1700 snaps a year over 3 year is 5,100 snaps. Vs a Surtain, who likely would have 3300-3400 snaps at 65 per game over the first 3 years before being able to sign an extension. No reason to knock off 2 years off a short career, especially at a position like CB. Top corners can go maybe 9 years before you see a drop and thus they no longer get paid top dollar.

Can't imagine it working out well on a game basis either, the margins between top players are so small. So you're going to cover a guy for 15 snaps and then immediately switch to running sprints on the other side? It's a huge disadvantage.

He would almost definitely be a CB first and have a package of plays on offense. Maybe 20 snaps

And that likely depends on who CB2 and CB3 are. If the gap is too wide between them and Hunter, vs the WR2-WR3, most coaches would keep his WR snaps down. 20 seems high.
