NBA 2025 NBA Playoffs

Somehow the Dallas GM comes out on top lol
The only legit criticism that can be levied his way is that he didn't get enough back for this trade (And even then, call me a conspiracist nut but I'll go to my grave believing that Adam Silver dropped to his knees and begged him to send him to the Lakers to save his flailing league).

But for the rest? It was there for all of us to see in this year's playoffs, Teemu James Harden is a fat, lazy, horrible defensibly foul baiting merchant and it would have been absolute madness to invest 500 million in that guy going forward.

Luka can score but his conditioning is terrible. When he went to the Lakers, tons of people were already proclaiming the chip for them. Instagram already was crowning them, f***ing idiots.

Shannon Sharpe’ year just got worse

I'm in no way a Lakers fan but anyone who thinks they didn't win the Luka trade by miles is crazy. The trade was never about this year, they got a top 5 (at worst) MVP caliber player who is in his prime for a 32 year old injury prone star. The LeBron era will be over soon and LA will have zero trouble finding top players who want to go there and play with Luka. Probably the only GM in the league who wouldn't make that trade is the guy who made it for Dallas. Easily one of the worst trades in NBA history and the Lakers getting knocked out in the first round doesn't change that at all.

Luka, just like James Harden, has shown zero inclination that he will ever get in shape. He's been in the league how many years now? Why do so many people assume that he will finally take it seriously?

Again, for Dallas, you know the franchise who has been around this guy on a day to day basis for the past 7-8 years, were at the point that they had to fork over 500 millions to a guy who has shown zero willingness at putting any effort on playing defense or taking care of his body since he's been in the league. They wanted out of that business.

The return was bad, yes, not having some sort of bidding war between a bunch of teams was worse but it doesn't make sense to me that the deal was made this way without the league interfering.

doesnt matter when your center piece is a more out of shape James Harden.

Yep Lukais an offensive generational talent but his conditioning is terrible, not only he can’t keep up, especially with JJ giving him little rest because his bench is ass, but it also leads to all kind of micro-injuries

that "lazy, fat, out of shape" guy just averaged 30 7 and 6 in the first round while playing 40 minutes a game

people still fail to realize that the trade was made for the future and not for this season. no one who actually knows bball thought this lakers team was going far in the playoffs without a big. pelinka would've been fired on the spot if he had actually turned down that trade

Just like Jokic too. Luka's performance speaks for itself. If you get the job done that's all that matters, this isn't the Olympic decathlon.

Whether or not the league interfered is an entirely different question.

Agreed
Luka and Lebron are juggernauts but the Lakers is unbalanced .

Realistically Lakers don’t need an AD caliber big man, someone like Jarett Allen would be a huge upgrade for them at the C
Allen would be an upgrade at C for a lot of teams. Including possibly, unfortunately, the 76ers.

Exactly. The Lakers can always buy a championship caliber roster over night.

Lakers will add Kyrie and Miles Turner/Brook Lopez in the off season.

LeBron will actually take a pay cut to make it happen when he opts out of his contract.

Lakers will drop 30 million from roster too.

a lot of this makes sense

but lebron hast been a guy shown to do that much in that realm of paycuts. There was with Miami but that was more to get his first championship

What a bad month for Shannon Sharpe, not only does he get humiliated by a then 19 year old OF model by offering 10 million to stay quiet, but getting mocked for his shit talking bullshit of ‘Lakers in 5!’
