OT: 2025 Motor Sports Discussion

Verstappen cannot help himself. He clearly went off the track at that first turn and will try to cry that it wasn’t his fault. He’s so critical to F1. Aside from being the best driver the drama he provides is important
he can be an ass, and he was... cry baby he got beaten to the first turn. could not out pace Oscar with the clean air.. good race by Charles

What was interesting was the podium when they handed out the awards. Piastri and LeClerc hosed each other down with champagne while Verstappen just walked off. He was pretty petulant

How is the Jag doing post rehab? Such a beautiful car. Props for having the foesight to pick it up.
Looking good and no issues at all!

Just such a great touring car. Is the acceleration smooth or instant? If you ever wanted to take a trip to someplace off the coast where you would not have congested roads it would be a dream drive.
Its a straight 6, 360 hp. So it goes but I wouldn’t consider it a “fast” car, but its definitely quick and pulls off the line nice. It’s handles like a gem in the turns.

I test drove the v8 variant, now thats a fasy car lmao 480hp in that small car was terrifying

I worked as a lot attendant/ "testdriver" at a Jaguar dealership from 1996 to 1999. The XK8 was pretty awesome for its time. Same with the all wheel drive supercharged XJR. Did some bad things in those without getting caught!:naughty: I remember when 200hp to 300hp in a production car was a lot. Now I get that from my Camry lol. Wish it was rear wheel drive.

The old BMW 328ix from the late 80s was the first rear drive car I can recall adopting all wheel drive (other than the 959 which wasn’t going to make it to the US). The Audi 4000 Quattro was based on a front drive platform. I had one of those. Amazing car in the 1980s. Five speed stick and locking differentials. Really fun if not that powerful. The BMW balanced the drive towards the rear by 2/3 so it would handle more like a rear driver. Again pretty slick for the 1980s. Eventually Subaru and Mitsubishi made sophisticated all wheel drive available with torque vectoring and the ability to move the power individually to each wheel seamlessly. Again the 959 did this earlier but that was basically a fantasy car. The thing I’m waiting for is an all wheel drive mid engined car. I don’t think that exists outside of maybe Lamborghini? Subaru should make the next generation of the BRZ work that way. It would be the ultimate in handling if done properly.

love that sainz is doing well vs Ferrari . max is still the champ until proven otherwise. great pole lap
in other news the grand prix of alabama just doesnt sound right
Albon bitching on the radio this season has made Sainz getting more comfortable in the Williams even sweeter. Antonelli has incredible pace, hopefully he doesn’t get flustered during the race. Also hope my boy Piastri gets a podium. Max is max, just so so good.

We ultimately couldn’t put it together for the Alabama race. We have to send our youngest off today for his summer abroad course. I’m obviously disappointed. At least we can watch the McLarens flail around behind Verstappen today. It will be fun when Verstappen is leading but under some pressure and complains that the car is running worse than a 1979 Monte Carlo with three wheels.

What drivers do we need to keep an eye on and is there any drama that stands out? Any heated rivalries or scandals to look for?
Pretty tame season so far in terms of rivalries. Palou is also kicking ass. He will be in F1 soon me thinks.

Drivers to watch:

All Penske drivers. Especially Newgarden

Pato with McLaren. He has been the bridesmaid lately.

Rossi may have something in the ECR car.

The Ganassi team is hit or miss at the track. Depends if they nail their setup.

One interesting note. This is the first Indy 500 with the hybrid system. The added weight and extra boost will be interesting for qualifying. Will be fascinating to watch how teams deploy that power on the oval during the 4 lap qualifying stint.
