OT: 2025 MLB Thread

I have thought about it if the Devils were to relocate, who would I root for. I think I'd just become a generic NHL fan that picks a couple of interesting teams per season to lightly follow.
Maybe the team with the most countrymen on it? Are the Finnish players being followed back at home once they come over here?

Unfortunately I've gone through this exercise a couple times with the NFL. I grew up in an LA suburb and the Rams/Raiders both left after the 1994 season. I ended up being indifferent about football until 2002 after I settled in San Diego. Chargers then left for LA and I haven't quite had the same level of interest. Back in the day I could name the entire 53 man roster and devote way too much time into reading about the draft. Probably didn't help that they moved the draft into prime time and have it conflict with the NHL playoffs.

I always get asked about how hockey became my favorite sport. Along with the Rams/Raiders leaving, I always point to the the 1994 MLB strike. And then the Lakers were in that awkward post-Magic pre-Shaq/Kobe period. I looked up their 1993-94 roster yesterday and I had forgotten about Reggie Jordan:

I suddenly wanted to get that jersey if only to anger people who assumed it's an MJ jersey.

Yeah, this is what most do.

Hence a lot of Finns have been recently fans of successful juggernauts such as Columbus, Minnesota and Carolina.

Florida looked pretty sad for a long time till last year. Dallas also went to the finals, quite a popular team.

Hintz and Heiskanen are great players.

My cousin got drafted by the independent Staten Island Ferry Hawks. Now I finally have no excuse to not go over to their ballpark for a game.

If his parents weren’t such psychos, I think he’d be in the majors by now, but that’s a story for another time….

What level of bad is Stroman? Is there a comparable in the history of NJ?

I was today at Yankee stadium. Jesus christ what an experience. Stroman got pulled with 2 outs in the game lol

He's on the IL now. I figured he was on borrowed time when I heard he had the lowest-speed fastball in the majors last season. That won't cut it in the era of fast heat, nasty curves, and mutilated arms.

My Jewish group got a deal for tickets to the Yankees/Blue Jays game on the 27th. $5 per person? I'm not passing that up. We'll even take the kids. They're not great but neither is the entire AL so far, and Judge is must-watch every time he comes up. Last time we went, we had gotten our foster baby the month prior, and it was that game against the Red Sox where he hit a go-ahead grand slam. She slept through the whole commotion, although she had baby headphones to cancel out a lot of it.

Lindor still doing Lindor things. This Mets team is looking to be loveable this year too. Rare to put consecutive good seasons together in Flushing Queens. God bless Steve Cohen and David Stearns! Citi field looked awsome from just watching the highlights and from last night.

Pitching has been carrying them, along with Pete for the most part. Only one player with an OPS above .800. Not going to cut it at all.

I'm worried about the bottom half of the lineup.
