2025 MLB Regular Season Thread: the Baseballening

I wonder if the ball is juiced, this year. Seen some really high exit velo's on non-homerun balls to the outfield

Elly De La Cruz "Torpedoes" the Rangers for 2 HR and 7 RBI. Love watching that kid. Can't wait for him to put a big season together. Probably one of the only players in MLB that could challenge Ohtani's "50/50", if he can be more consistent at the plate.

Apparently he went to the new bat

If the torpedo bat really does juice up batters' average and slugging, I think it might ultimately be bad for baseball as an entertainment product.

The offense changes, and the pitching will adjust. They'll lean even more into "true outcome" pitching and trying to miss bats. No one is going to want to pitch for soft contact if soft contact still means the ball gets crushed.

It'll be more pitches on the edge, trying to get chases and whiffs, more walks, more Ks, fewer balls in play.

Someone please take the f***ing Pirates away from me. I never get an ounce of joy from them, but god damn do they piss me off for half of the year every f***ing year of my f***ing life.

My first baseball memory was Barry Bonds forgetting how to throw a baseball. The happiest baseball moment in my 38 years was a pitcher dropping a ball in a f***ing wildcard game. There's no upside to any of this. I just want Nutting to suffer eternally.

The Killer B's didn't bring you joy?

Vintage Mariners baseball, again.
They are the team that should be a fun team to root for, but end up being the hardest team to root for. Amazing rotation, really good closer...not a horrible bullpen...legit start CF'er....but a supporting cast of some of the most inconsistent hitters in MLB. Has to be super frustrating for M's fans, cause I know it is for as an outside observer.

Mariners, for the most part of their history has had some of the worst luck ever.

You had the 90's Mariners have Griffey Jr, A-Rod, Edgar Martinez and Randy Johnson, not even reach the World Series. Then they trade Randy Johnson to Houston since management thought 'he wasn't worth it long term'. Then Griffey Jr gets traded to Cincinnati in 2000, Mariners go to the ALCS in 2000 and lose in 6 games. A-Rod leaves in 2001, get Ichiro and proceed to have one of the greatest seasons of all time with 116 wins, only to lose in the ALCS again.

Go 21 years without a playoff appearance, waste the careers of Ichiro and Felix Rodriguez, wasted Adrian Beltre's career only to recapture it in Texas. Signed garbage contracts like Shonne Figgins and f***ing Robinson Cano, whom got busted for PED's and an 80 game suspension.

Now look at them, this team can't stop shooing themselves in the foot....AGAIN.

The last time the Pirates were consistently good was before we were born, the 1970's.
Made the playoffs 6 times, won the World Series twice.

We are even lucky the Pirates get a winning season.

Braves....just got Ohtani'd on Ohtani bobblehead night
0-7

Also...Dodgers become first team to win a World Series and start the next year 8-0.
