2025 MLB Regular Season Thread: the Baseballening

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I thought the Yankees were in control of their game... 4-1 over The Brew in the 9th.
But the closer the Yankees got FROM the Brewers, Devin Williams, is threatening to give his old team the lead back.

Bases loaded, no one out for Milwaukee.

I thought the O's might suffer a bit this season after losing some of the bats they did, but if this game is anything to go by....perhaps not...

Or is it because the Maple Leafs...errrr, Blue Jays pitching sucks? :sarcasm:
Nah...still a top 3 offense in the league. It's just a matter of whether ONeill can stay healthy and Kjerstad/Cowser don't regress.

Yankees learning the hard way you never ever go after guys like that after they blow a huge postseason save. They are truly never the same after. Mariano was not ever the same guy after 2001 either

Chicago White Sox beat the Angels 8-1 today. I wonder when that gap in run differencial will go down. Still, maybe this year will be better than last year.

Wilmer Flores hit the game winning HR against the Reds. That was fun.

So weird to see the Rays playing home games outside. I wonder how HR friendly this yard is going to be, considering it's a Spring Training facility.

I’m here at the game right now. Weather’s decent but it’s still March. Only 318 to left field, 408 to center, and my view of right field is blocked to where I can’t see how far it is.

I’m wondering how many rain delays there will be this season.

If they play most summer games at night it shouldn't be too many. Most of the rain is in the afternoon hours so tarp the infield and hope the rest drains well.

Baseball is a weird sport that allows teams to have ballparks with various dimensions. Does any other sport allow that?🤔

Depends on the sport and league. The official rules for soccer and rugby (union) for example, as well as IIHF rules, only give specifications for a range of permitted dimensions, instead of specifying an exact number as being required. In practice, if you want to host a major tournament (for example) the tournament organizers can be more restrictive about the dimensions of the playing area when selecting host venues.

I believe NHL-sized ice is technically legal by the IIHF rules. It’s just that IIHF rules allow for a width of up to 31 meters, so in practice most “international” sized ice is wider than NHL ice.
