An injury to perhaps their most talented player on a roster selected for sand rather than skill is going to hurt them, even if he's able to return.

Haha. And where was the sand - Gibson's stupid elbowing penalty? The Latvians were at least even with TC physically.

Canada is still producing the best top-end players, but their management and coaching, at least in the WJC, is shockingly behind the times. It makes USA Hockey seem enlightened.

Almost forgot ... Bonk on PP1 over Schaefer, and then over Dickinson, epitomizes the brain-dead decision making.

Can anyone remember seeing a player skate full speed into a post blowing himself up while in complete control ie not falling? Can't say I've ever seen it, playing or watching.

I know it was against khazakstan but man rewatching the game and wahlberg was just a man amongst boys. Could have easily had 4-5 goals. He’s got some soft hands for a big dude

It seemed that he didn't really seem to be moving quickly relative to everyone else on the ice, but if you think of it in terms of Paulie...

Eh, defensive. He was rotating in with Ralph and he took a penalty of the “soft but don’t put your stick there and you won’t get a penalty.”

Wahlberg had a great chance in the first but just missed as he got stick checked at the last moment. He just drew a kneeing penalty too that Willander converted on.

Through 2 periods, Wahlberg hasn't hit the scoresheet but he is 2nd in TOI among Swedish forwards, with over 13 minutes.
