Bregman is Pedroia with power

He offers
Righty bat
Defense
Versatility
Power
Leadership

It’s ridiculous they don’t get him

They can start Campbell in AAA and once Devers pulls something flip Bregman to 3B call up Campbell

Hopefully Yoshida hitting well can move him & stick Devers there

Maybe it will be a JD Martinez situation.
I’m hoping

Just F’n sign him

You wipe out everything that’s basically an issue

You balance out lineup

You get infield flexibility

You get an edgy smart ass who is like us

You get power excellent Fenway hitter

You improve your D

You allow Campbell & Mayer to take time

You hit the $241 cap and can tell everyone we aren’t bleeping cheap

You get me going to the first home stand

Damn if give me him !!!!!

I am starting to get onboard. Guy has been to 4 world series. He can lead the team and play elite defense and Raffy can just focus on hitting.

Please don't.
Please.

f***ing cut the shit

I'm guessing they don't want to give him the years he is looking for. I can't blame them there as Bergman has already declined some. They likely would prefer paying 20 million or less for 3 years of Arenado rather than 6 plus years to Bergman at closer to 30 million annually. Helps the defense either way assuming it pushes Devers to DH and Yoshida elsewhere. Lot of big ifs, but time will tell. Doubt they would have to give up much in trade either.

If they move Casas because they’re p***yes that can’t handle personality then the return better be pretty significant, like Jared Jones level
Pretty significant? For a guy who missed most of last season and was a non factor for them when they could have used him? A guy who can't play defense on a team full of DHs? Craig Breslow/Theo/Sam Kennedy don't strike me as guys looking to move a cheap asset just because fans are annoyed by this clown sun bathing in the outfield.

The team definitely had holes, bottom line is Cora checked out on Casas over the injury. Cora signed a multi year extension, he isn't going to vouch for Casas.

There is a reason for all these rumors involving Casas, his time here is dwindling.
He don't have to vouch for him ,he has to pencil him in to the lineup if ready to go .A few teams won WS where a player and manager butted heads.

Hell baby
Emphasis on value hopefully

Been looking into Arenado’s fit for Fenway, he is a dead pull guy that’s pretty good at optimizing his launch angle, even with the decline in his bat. Elite bat to ball skills, just doesn’t hit it particularly hard. I think we’d get slightly above average value from his stick and very good defense. Career .333/.362/.704 at Fenway in a small sample doesn’t hurt (6 dongs in 58 PA)

Didn't someone just post something about bad his contact is and how many ground balls he hits?

Yeah and in spite of the soft contact he’s still an above average bat. If I had to guess the soft contact is a product of him chasing a healthy amount of pitches while having good contact skills. Doesn’t really whiff or strikeout much. Pretty good at optimizing his launch angle.

Some hitters can make it work. Isaac Paredes is a pretty good example of somebody pretty similar in quality of contact- he just walks more/makes better swing decisions while Arenado plays better D and squares up more balls

I have to imagine they are looking to sign Vladdy Jr. In the off-season and don't want to spend long term money prior to that. If he won't sign an extension with Toronto, would you offer Cases and Mayer for him? Assuming he would extend with Boston?

I think there's a lot here to be worried about considering his age.

there are for sure serious question marks, the bat could very well take another slide and then he’s below average. I don’t like the idea of him replacing Casas in the lineup at all, they would need to add more pop somewhere if they do imo…even with Casas they’re projected to be like 18th in HR if I remember correctly

Not too worried about his glove, I think he’d be able to play an average 3B at age 45. Now he’s firmly very good but not elite over there. Most of his value comes from his glove. Compared to Devers it would be refreshing and make our pitchers lives easier. But again….hate the idea of him replacing Casas in the lineup
