Thinks Buehler is a #3 and thinks the Sox package for Crochet doesn’t include any future stars while he considers Crochet to be a cost controlled star who is “ace or ace-adjacent”

His least fav is Montas-Mets, Nate-Texas, and Cobb-Tigers

What's the point of bringing in an aging, declining, possibly already replacement-level Arenado if you still have to eat Yoshida's money? NA is gonna be in his year 34 season and last year his OPS+ was 101. The year before it was 108.

Since they're operating with a bullshit internal budget the defensive upgrade simply isn't worth it to me. They'll use his deal and the money they paid to unload Yoshida as a reason not to improve the team in a meaningful way, all while Arenado is getting worse as a player.

I think Bregman is a " must have" for us.
We need his RH bat in the lineup.
I liked Hamilton at 2B for us last year. He gave us much needed speed at the bottom of the lineup along with CR, it will be his job to lose this year.

It might take us adding another piece ( prospect) to get Arenado in a trade with Yoshi.
We are still very deep at SS prospects with Mayer / Arias / Cespedes and Romero
I would have no issues adding Romero into the deal.

I like this because it does not block Kristian Campbell or Mayer. Still upgrades infield (defense for sure) and not locked into a long term deal. I could live with Bregman if it is a 5 or maybe 6 year deal at most, but I don't expect it to age well outside the first couple of years. I could also see a mini resurgance for either player hitting at fenway.

Both have a few years left in the tank, Bregman with a higher ceiling, but also comes with the huge disadvantage due to contract length. And since the red Sox have shown zero aggressiveness and willingness to push for immediate success, neither players makes sense. Bregman would be even worse since in 3-4 years, the Red Sox may feel the need to extend a few of their homegrown players.

The Bregman contract is underwater after year(s) 1-2 of the deal and he wouldn't move the needle enough to put the Sox over the Yankees or Orioles in his supposed prime years.

This would all be a moot point if the owners were serious about this product, but this is not the reality.

I actually liked their pitching off season as long as Whitlock & Slaton going to be healthy

Bregman solidifies their D while providing flex at two positions a power bat and leadership

Plus he’s kind of a dink which I can appreciate

Arenado hit over .270 last season. Pretty sure league average was in .250s

He is a ten time gold glove winner as well.
Huge upgrade vs Raffy.
The Sox have yet to address our fielding problems from last year.
1B and 3B need to be upgraded defensively.
Having a healthy Trevor Story will help at SS.
If we start the season with Raffy at 3B ( career .944 fielding pct), yikes.
Bregman is the perfect fit for us if we cannot get Arenado and off load Yoshi in the deal, move Raffy to DH and perhaps part time 1B and fill in for Bregman on his rest days.
Pickup a better defensive 1B than Casas for the bench, a RH hitter so we can sub him in for the later innings, just like the Sox did when we got Mientkiewicz in 2004.
