Wasn't Marleau already eligible this year? Anyway I'm guessing it'll be Jumbo, Chara, Keith and Price on the men's side.

Call me a homer but I say yes. Most games played in history should be an immediate go into the Hall. Jumbo is less of a debate for me despite no cup.

There is zero chance Marleau gets in this year solely because of the other candidates. The only way he does is if the writers are sentimental and want both enshrined in the same year.

I'd prefer Thornton and Marleau be inducted together and since they've never really respected Thornton for these sorts of things, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets snubbed when he should be a lock.

With regard to Marleau, i think the selection committee values games played far more than the average fan thinks they do. When you listen to interviews with former players, they are always impressed by guys who played 700, 800, 900 games. 1000 obviously gets the Silver Stick ceremony.

Marleau had 1779. If you take Marleau's games and subtract Bobby Orr's games, you still are at 1152. ~1000 more games than Mike Bossy. And to have ended it on an iron man streak taboot.

I think it wouldnt be surprising if he gets the call.

Patty will/should get in on a bad year, I don't think it should be right away though tbh. Jumbo is first ballot, everyone knows this
