2025 first round mock draft

With the playoffs finally concluded, I will now present you my first round mock with reasoning. This is assuming that no trades are made.

1. New York Islanders: Matthew Schaefer:
   • Schaefer is the BPA here, imho. There's very little flaws in his game, and he has a ridiculous ceiling.
   • His floor is through the roof.
2. San Jose Sharks: Michael Misa:
   • Misa's the second BPA, with an exceptionally high ceiling.
   • Also has a very strong floor, but I think his floor is a bit weaker than Schaefer, since there's no guarantee he's a centre.
3. Chicago Blackhawks: Porter Martone:
   • Martone has all the makings of a top line power forward, so I think the Blackhawks will go for someone with a high ceiling and sandpaper.
4. Utah Mammoths: Brady Martin:
   • The first reach here. From all reports, Utah is very high on Martin.
   • Martin is an exceptionally smart, hardworking, and skilled player, so I can understand Utah reaching here.
5. Nashville Predators: Anton Frondell:
   • The Preds go for a forward that has a high chance of playing centre and with a high ceiling and floor.
6. Philadelphia Flyers: James Hagens:
   • Flyers pick BPA here. Hagens has a high ceiling for sure and many thought he would be a top 3 pick for sure. But there have been questions about his floor and if he'll truly be a centre.
7. Boston Bruins: Caleb Desnoyers:
   • Bruins go for the forward that's most comparable to Bergeron.

9. Buffalo Sabres: Roger McQueen:
10. Anaheim Ducks: Jake O'Brien:
11. Pittsburgh Penguins: Viktor Eklund:
