2025 DRAFT

Doubtful either of them make it that late. McQueen is going to go early.
I disagree with that. He obviously won't go before any of Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Desnoyers, or Frondell. Martone is also most likely going before him too. Then apparently a lot of the teams in the 4-7 range are very high on Martin. I also bet Mrtka goes top 10. That's 8 names right there. I'm sure at least one of McQueen or O'Brien will be available in the double digits

The only two he wont go ahead of are Schaefer, Misa and maybe Hagens, anything beyond that is your opinion. Teams were raving about his interviews at the combine and have access to his medical records. Hes not going to go later on.

We'll see, just as you say it's my opinion, you saying he's not going to go later is also just your opinion. My point about trading up was based on if one of them is available anyways.

In Scott Wheeler's most recent mock draft he has the Flames taking Braeden Cootes and Benjamin Kindel... he mentioned he was going to go with Ryabkin, but mentioned how his fitness and interviews at the combine have hurt his draft stock and believes he falls to round 2.

In Pronman's most recent mock draft he has the Flames taking Cootes as well. Wit the Panthers pick he has us grabbing Bill Zonnon

In the Athletic's "staff" mock, Julian McKenzie made our pick and has us taking Cole Reschny @ 18 (mentioned it was a toss-up with Cootes), he also made our 2nd pick and it was Kindel.

What is the fascination with McQueen other than having a dope name? Guy is going to buuuuust so hard. He's Logan Brown with a cool name.

That would be an incredible first round. Snag Ryabkin in the 2nd of he's available for the risk/reward.

What's the fascination with a highly skilled 6'5 RHS center?

Gosh, have no idea.

Who barely puts up points and the points he puts up are against the dumpster teams? Guy is the most overrated prospect in a decade. If he had such high skill and towered over guys you think he could be a better than hovering around a PPG.

You know he spent nearly the entire season recovering from a back injury right?
What's his excuse the year prior. When he came back why does he only show up against the worst teams in the league?

So many excuses for this guy. I have nothing against he kid, wish him the best, but if we was 5'10 and was named James Darsh he'd be a 5th rounder.

are you seriously suggesting that a near PPG season for a draft -1 player is poor?

Look at the forwards picked in the top half of the 24 draft that played in the CHL and see what they produced in the year before their draft year.
#3 - Senneke, 55 in 61
#4 - Lindstrom, 44 in 61
#6 - Iginla, 18 in 48
#8 - Catton, 55 in 63
#13 - Lunchanko, 14 in 46

And considering this is considered a weak draft class, discussing him being a potential top 10 pick makes sense.

If he didn't miss most of this season, he'd be in the conversation for being a top 3 pick.

A back injury for McQueen that was misdiagnosed and as a result treated wrongly in 2023. But sure sort by points and draft yourself the next Tyson Jost or Alex Newhook if that's more your thing.

Been watching some Cullen Potter tape and if he's still there at 18 he'd be my top choice I think. Kid is fast. Him Zonnon, Kindel or Cootes I'd be happy with. The Panthers pick I don't really have strong feelings about, 6 or 7 guys that should be going around there that I would rate as more or less the same. Middle 6 types. If Ryabkin falls that far he might be worth a gamble on. Conroy's mission on draft day should be centers with upside and potential, as many as possible. Watched some Frontenac games this season for Battaglia and liked Tyler Hopkins' game, could be a good target for our 3rd rounder.

Funny you mention Jost when that same draft class had Logan Brown that many were high on because “mmm big”

Funny you mention Logan Brown when that draft class also had Tage Thompson. You can find non descript whatever ass 3rd liners anywhere in the draft. What you can't find in the later rounds are strong skating right handed centers with ++ hands and size.

that whole first round was pretty full of busts. Puljujarvi, Juolevi, Alex Nylander, Jost, Brown, McLeod and Bean were all top 15 picks.

I don't mind trading up for Brady Martin or Jake O'Brien
I'm down with whatever. I see advantages and disadvantages to both trading up and not trading up. I'm just saying I don't think trading up for McQueen is a possibility. I don't think O'Brien is a possibility either, but I think Martin has a chance.

I see the top 10 being...

  1. NYI - Schaefer
  2. SJS - Misa
  3. CHI - Frondell
  4. UTA - Hagens or Desnoyers
  5. NSH - Desnoyers or Hagens
  6. PHI - O'Brien
  7. BOS - McQueen or Martone
  8. SEA - Martone or McQueen
  9. BUF - Mrtka
  10. ANA - Martin or Eklund

Strong skating for a 6’ 5” player.

I’ve watched McQueen since last year. I don’t think he’s going to be your 1C. More likely I see him on the wing.
