2025 DRAFT

Not a 2025 draft prospect, but wasn’t sure where else to put this and felt it merited sharing. This kid really is something else.

From what i'm seeing, those guys would be a good pick (if we would have the 17th)
(my personal ranking)

1.Jake O'Brien - C - 6'1- 172

High-end patience and vision with the puck. Soft touch and quick hands. Competitive center who gets to the nets. Footspeed good enough for the NHL

2.Justin Carbonneau - RW - 6'1 - 191

Lot of natural puck skill and vision. Make high-end play with the puck. NHL-caliber skater who can beat defenders 1 on 1 at top speed. Natural scorer

3.Brady Martin - C - 6'0 - 178

Great combination of skill and compete. Plays hard, attacking high percentage areas. Physical player, fine skating.

4.Kashawn Aitcheson - D - 6'1 - 196

Hyper competitive defender who doesn’t back down from physical play and likes to agitate. Good skater and hockey sense to make plays at higher levels. Offense will likely never be his calling card

I think the difference between the Flames and Devils pick will be marginal. And possibly the difference between it and the Panthers pick could be 4-5 spots too. Im not bent out of shape about the Habs getting the Flames 1st.

That said, if Kindel is there with the latter pick, I wouldnt be shocked if the Flames snap him up. They should target a center with their first pick though.

As it stands, Calgary gives Montreal the 16th overall (minus any lotto luck).
Calgary gets NJD's 18th overall (barring any wins in the playoffs).
Florida's 22nd overall (barring any wins in the playoffs).

Kind of want both Jersey and Florida to go out early so those picks stay as valuable as possible.
While I don't love this draft, I think there's good players there that could play roles with this club. I'm also interested to see if teams maybe shy away from McQueen; who didn't play much this season. When you look at who'll be drafting in the top 10 this year, going for the big injured guy might be a turnoff for teams with glaring holes everywhere. Then you look at the next 10 as teams who might be more willing to trade that pick than pick up big question mark/project forward.

The only way you move in the draft from the playoffs is if you make the semi finals, so they would have to win 2 rounds. Florida could but it will be tough, New Jersey is highly unlikely without Jack

I’m sure y’all already saw this goal by now, but I wanted to share it for the ones who hadn’t. It’s like every fkn goal this kid scores is one for the highlight reel, just incredible.

I think we have to go 2 centers 1st rnd
1 of Martin/Cootes/Reschny/Kindel/Nesbit/Zonnon
Then take a stab at Ryabkin and hope he has a bounceback year

Every single one of the Flames 7 picks should be used on a centreman. They have enough of everything else

Heres a question. Grier is apparently willing to deal the Sharks pick. I am assuming its if they end up #2 and know they wont get Schaeffer. So, if thats the case and the Sharks want a young and upcoming defenseman, would you move Parekh for #2 to get the Flames a top end center?

This makes the Sharks more well-rounded, which isn’t something you want to do to a division rival.

And maybe I’m biased but I think that Parekh would go #1 in this year’s draft. Pass

I highly doubt he moves it. Rule of thumb is GM's will say they're isn't anything they won't consider doing. Also is the Sharks lose the lottery and fall to #2, I don't think teams are just instantly taking Schaefer at #1 either. He's really not a clear cut #1 pick, both Misa and Hagens are right there, with Martine just behind since he's a winger.

Chicago, Nashville, and Philly will almost certainly take a center. Boston probably leans center but not guarantee. Seattle probably takes the defenseman. No way Buffalo takes another LD.

As for values, I thi k Calgary has to add a bit for #2, but I doubt either team bites. I could see a situation where Chicago offers up Levshunov though
