Prospect Info: 2025 Draft: We are #1….1

Desnoyers would be amazing if he fell to #11 but he's definitely not falling that far. He's 100% being taken by Philly at the latest, they have his brother and I seriously doubt they'd pass on drafting him.

I think the only guys that may fall out of the top-10 are Eklund, Mrtka and McQueen, I think the other guys are pretty much locks to be top-10 picks. Martin shouldn't be a lock for a top-10 pick but I think he is at this point, and I think everyone else (Schaefer, Misa, Martone, Hagens, Frondell, O'Brien and Desnoyers) are inarguable top-10 picks.

If McQueen's physicals come back bad, I have a feeling that Anaheim goes Lakovic at #10. Just a weird feeling I have.

We should draft more super mutants.

The still criminally underscouted Mutant Hockey League awaits

I like the lefty on left wing or vice versa on the PP

Phil on the half wall obviously worked but always thought he’d be insane working the right wing. Opens up a lot more passing lanes than your off side (plus he never had a one timer) even though it decreases your shooting angle

Marner is very very good from that spot.
In Jr I played my strong side on the wall in the power play. We used to run an over-load/umbrella depending. Decent shot on my off-wing but always felt way more dangerous walking in off the wall and dishing on the forehand to the whole zone. Forehand is also on the board side and easier to keep space off of defenders sticks. I'm a righty and there were very few RHC goalies back then, so shot lane wasn't as glamorous because you had to beat glove or shoot low far-side/risk picking far-side and giving the PK an easy free clear. A lefty walking in on that stick side, though, I wish.

I'm lying, I thought Simon was dogshit for a guy stapled to Sid's wing. He was fine as a middle-6 offensive stopgap due to injury, i guess.
I was just saying Simons game may have been simple, but not effective.

Desnoyers definitely seems to have more offensive talent than Simon.

I think we just need a couple teams to go needs based (such as Seattle - last thing they need is a center in the pipeline). There are a couple teams a head of us where center is not their biggest need. Plus, we just need 1-2 of them to prefer a dman over a forward or hell, even size (McQueen) over the centers in our sites.

Schaeffer
Misa
Martone
Hagens
Frondell
Desnoyers
McQueen
Aitcheson/Mrtka
Lakovic/Mrtka/Eklund
O'Brien - PIT
Martin - PIT from NYR

I am feeling similar vibes. Not about Lakovic. But about Desnoyers not getting past Philly. And about the potential fallers.

That said, I think if McQueen goes in the top 10, he COULD push a center to No. 11. And that is really my hope at this point. Which center could drop? Hard to say. It won't be Hagens. Could Frondell fall that much? It would be amazing if he did. I doubt it. So maybe it will be Jake O'Brien. I think teams undervalue hockey IQ, especially when that seems to be a player's No. 1 asset. I believe in the opposite, personally. Give me hockey IQ in Round 1, please.

Anyway, even before we knew where we were picking, my No. 1 guy was Jake O'Brien. I hope we get this guy.

Hagens is falling to like 9 isn’t he. SMH. Wish that was us.
No way. I'd be absolutely floor if he wasn't top 5.

Scheaffer, Misa
Martone, Frondell, Hagens
Desnoyers, O'Brien, Eklund, Martin, Mrtka, Aitcheson

Hagens isn't getting passed up by anyone on that third row...I would think. Not impossible just unlikely.

Granted it's Trotz and he has been a terrible GM, but logically I can't see Nashville passing on Hagens if he's available at #5. He's the exact high upside center that team has lacked for basically its entire existence. They'd have to make an incredibly stupid decision with taking Desnoyers or O'Brien over him.

That said, if they do pass on Hagens for Desnoyers or O'Brien, I think Boston takes him at #7.

Cool. I wouldn’t be. He’s 5th in McKenzie’s ranking and is gonna get hit with the double whammy of “hasn’t played” and “small” while a bigger projected C has a good playoffs in the Q.
That's not unfair. I'll go with "unlikely but not impossible" because - Sennecke.

I just have to make more "stretches" to get there than what I think happens. Hell, with him being a LI boy and the NYI having the pick, it's possible he goes 1ov. I think that would be dumb but it's possible.

NYI - Schaeffer
SJS - Misa
CHI - Frondell
UTAH - Martone
NSH - Desnoyers
PHI - Jack O'Brien (this is where I think Hagens would go if out of top 5)
BOS - McQueen
Seattle - Mrtka/Aitcheson
Buffalo - Eklund/Martin
PIT - Hagens

I think all it takes is a couple bigger guys go high, a couple teams draft for need, and a couple teams view Hagens as a wing. He could absolutely fall.

Buium (7 on McKenzies list, drafted 12th), Dickinson (6th to 11th) and Silayev (4th to 10th) all fell last year.

Not the same class or depth to the top 10 so it’s not apples to apples but I wouldn’t discount anything. I don’t think he gets to us but 7th? 9th? Maybe. I agree Nashville makes a lot of sense.

You're forgetting someone. You have the Pens picking 10th OA.

So the Rangers are keeping the 1st this year then? I guess they really think they'll be a lot better under Sullivan and that the pick will be lower, which is whatever. It's also supposed to be a very deep draft next year so that's fine. As long as Dubas doesn't deal the Pens first next year too, this team needs a draft where they can pluck 2 very good prospects in the 1st round. To have the 1st next year is fine for what a lot consider a very stacked 1st round.

Simon, what a waste, @Tom Hanks was a huge fan of his though. He was another one of those wankers Sullivan loved to over use to the point where it also didn't help the player anymore either. ZAR, Simon...yikes

McQueen?

How was Simon effective?
