Brady Martin was an animal in the u18 game quarterfinal game against the Czechs. I don't think he makes it to 15 with his combination of skill and physicality. Cootes and Reschny were excellent as well.

Hopefully somebody drops in the first round. That's what happened in 2022, which wasn't regarded as a strong draft either.

And Lekkerimaki dropped to the Canucks at #15 after being ranked much higher for most of the season. Teams were concerned about his size, mostly.

But I guess we'll find out where the Canucks draft in a hurry, as the lottery balls drop on May 5th. Canucks have about about 99 percent odds at sticking at #15, but does this mean they actually have 'a chance' to move up?

Cootes was invisible to me and almost cost them the game in ot. The first line created everything for Canada in that game. Martin hit the post twice, Katzin missed some glorious chances and Reschny missed a breakaway. Cootes wasn't good against Finland and now the Czechs but beating up on pewee competition needs to be taken into account. 8 points against Norway and Slovakia.

I have it Martin, Reschny, Kindell, Cootes. I don't think Martin is there at 15 he might go top 10. And Kindell I think he is a winger in the NHL.

He definitely wasn't as big a factor as Martin or Reschny in this one but I definitely noticed his speed and a few heady plays in the offensive zone. He had 4 shots and was 65% on the draw. I see so many traits that translate to the pros with him - would be shocked if he becomes anything less than a second line centre.

I do agree with your order though. I think after this tournament there’s basically no chance Martin slips to 15 and Reschny is making a top 10 case as well.

I think Canucks will keep the pick since its a weak draft and that teams will want a 2026 first round draft pick instead if they're parting a center.

That stupid comeback win against dallas cost us two spots in the standings. Could be picking 13th overall. Could be the difference from getting Bear/Martin and not. Brutal.

If the draft shakes out like that list, should just keep stockpiling dmen and take Sascha Boumiedenne. He just broke the scoring record for dmen at the U-18.

I'm still having PTSD flashbacks after watching Benning and Linden sitting like statues of stone in the draft lottery room, after another miserable season. And then actually dropping in the draft after the lottery balls fell, year after year.

So I won't be watching. Besides, don't the Canucks have basically a 99 percent chance of drafting 15th overall?

Maybe we keep the pick?

Watched Reschny a few times in Victoria. Very smart and talented player - I'd say better than Schmidt. "Big but" is size but if he is there at 15 you've got to closely consider him. At the Junior level is able to ease himself in and out of traffic and avoid much contact. His anticipation is pro level and he can be dangerous if he gets any space to play make or score.

In the end, the Canucks will probably be looking at a d-men (if they keep draft). Tend to dominate in the range in which Canucks will be drafting and best forwards probably gone.

Really soured on Schmidt, tunnel vision, tries to play hero puck way too often for me. If we're gambling on a smaller undersized offensive guy I would much rather LJ Mooney with a 3rd or beyond.

Even with our forward and center position what it is, i'd find a way to appreciate a certain dman, but not Sascha.

Kashawn Aitcheson would be my one option. He played with Romani and Pattersson so we probably seen him a bunch.

Think Alexander Romanov but with a little more bite and offensive ability if he puts it all together.

A left side consisting of Dpetey and Aitcheson would be downright nasty and murderous for opposing forwards.

I prefer to trade it for an impact guy, but if its like Kotkaniem, or a Pavel Zacha player, I think I will just past on it, and try to build the team the right way.

- McQueen may be the most scrutinized prospect in the Top 10.

He missed a large portion of this season with what was believed to be a back injury and then an unspecified lower-body injury, but he did return to play regular season (17 total - eight before the injury, nine after) and playoff games (three) in March. His ranking comes with a notable asterisk.

At this particular moment in time, none of our scouts surveyed said they would be comfortable taking McQueen where they currently rated him — eight of the 10 had him between Nos. 3 and 10 with two more saying they’ve already red flagged him due the spectre of injury.

The majority of those eight scouts who see the towering centre, if healthy, as a bona fide top 10 prospect said the final decision would ultimately rest with their team’s doctor.

If Cayden Lindstrom didnt just happen, and especially because its labeled a weak draft, some team would certainly draft Roger real high.

But Lindstrom did just happen, so he falls for sure, imo.

For us, with one lone pick, we cant take the risk likely when a Cootes or Martin might be there instead.

Teams with two or three, they can afford to brick one on McQueen if it comes to it.

Sidenote, Chicago offered their 1st in 2025 for #4 and also wanted Lindstrom. Today that pick is slated for #2 and Lindstrom missed an entire season. Yikes, almost.
