NHL Entry Draft: 2025 Draft Pick Watch

anyone see mckenna is likely going to Penn State? they’re not even hiding it folks!

Saw that earlier this week. Or at least heard about it discussed on XM radio.

Personally i hope more players start going the college route instead of staying in the CHL.

I think the 18 and 19 year olds will be helped more by playing people older than them.

Also, i believe there is a lot more practice time in NcAA due to scheduling. Could be wrong about this.

Depends. I think for a guy as good as McKenna its a no brainer to go NCAA or do what Matthews did, but I’d say it’s a good path for guys of that caliber mostly. it’s insanely hard to be good in the NCAA as a teen.

Definitely depends, but for higher draft picks i think its definitely the way to go. For low- mid round i think u can make an an argument to stay in CHL depending on the situation.

What should happen is the NHL and CHL amends their agreement and allows players to go to the AHL.

So top players can choose either NhL, NCAA or AHL. This would of course make the CHL younger, but those younger players would get much more ice time for pre draft years to develop.

So it would in essence make the chl an 18 or younger league as 19 and 20 year olds would be better served playing in AHL or NCAA.

The CHL model as it is now is becoming outdated. Especially as NCAA becomes more prevalent.

Mock draft at this website.

First crack C Brady Martin. He has Brady Tkachuk potential at center

He plays a similar game to Tkachuk, but I don't think he has his potential. If so he would be a top 3 pick.

Either way I'd be thrilled to draft him in 2 weeks.
He can go anywhere in the top 15 based on what I have read. I hope he falls to us and they better snag him. He checks all the boxes and is a center

Sounds like a lot of the 1st rd picks this year may be leaving Major Junior for NCAA this year. This is now a real thing. NIL money now makes the NCAA the best option for all the top prospects. IMO within a couple years most of the top North American prospects will be drafted out of or committing to the NCAA. Everything about the development path is superior.

From reports at the combine I think McQueen is back in the picture. It sounds like he's past all his back injury issues. 6'5 center with great hands. I'd rather the Rangers be drafting big whether forward or defense---particularly defense. It should be clear by now if you want to build a championship team you need a big, physical D and a North South forward group. You don't outskill your way through 4 rounds of better and better opponents. You need guys who can grind other teams down.

This might not be the best draft ever but it does seem to have physical players with size who could fit into roles like that.

I feel like we will absolutely draft a forward this year since we took a defenseman last year. Especially since there are a decent amount of Centers that sill be available when we pick, not as many defensemen(unless we reach).
