NHL Entry Draft: 2025 Draft Pick Watch

The word generational makes me nauseous. Two players can have a nine year age difference and both be called it. That's not what it means.

Same with superstar. There can't be more than one at a time but it's used to describe any AS. That's not what it means.

I just took a look at the photos of all 40 potential 1st rounders and I can tell you this year is a massive bust when it comes to alpha personalities that will become a true superstar. You really have a pool of Yakupovs and shane Wrights. This is undoubtedly the ugliest 1st rounders I’ve ever seen and I’ve been in the business longer than Bob McKenzie. Give up this year’s 1st rounder is my choice.
Came here to ask this basically...

Realistically who could we nab at 12? Are they even worth it?

You have a point about generational.

What about the word "superstar" implies only one at a time?

Also some good prospects will be there. I'd be looking at Jake Obrien and Jackson Smith. Rangers do love their college players though and Hensler is good too. I'd venture a guess that at least 1 of those 3 will be there and I wouldn't even be looking at anyone else. Defense and center. Thats it.

the mental math going on last night...

Isles fans go into bidding war among each other for the piece of paper that has the chicken scratch calculation that resulted in the 1OA pick.

I’m good with any of Martin, Steve McQueen, or Smith. One of those guys has to be there at 12, right? Right??

Yes.

Someone always drops.

I don't know who it will be but McRanger just posted this, you can get a good player at 12.

Do people think that every player outside the top 2 in every draft is just some random dude who happened to show up? You can get a good player anywhere in the draft. People get so hung up on 1 or 2 spots in either direction when a 1st round pick is involved. Scout better and over time it shouldn't matter if we draft 12th or 21st.

So which is generational: (drafted in the same year) Crosby OR Ovie? Or McDavid?
I agree sometimes terms get watered down, but "generational" to me doesn't mean "only one in a twenty year span."

You could make that argument as well.

I'm just saying that "geerational" has some sort of limiting implication whereas "superstar" does not.
