I could see us drafting Malcolm Spence. Big PF.
He has a ton of skill tho and plays physical which we severely lack. Not really. Spence spends so much time putting himself into coverage and removing himself as an offensive option. He looks like a guy with subpar hockey IQ when I’ve watched him.
Appeal to authority is meaninglessi know , you know every thing and how every player turns out and kimmelman n morreale know nothing . but some how morreale has 60k followers at twitter , while kimmelman is followed by dreger/lebrun/shannahan/tsn hockey/hockey reference/elite prospects/easton hockey/etc
I don’t know man, Draper’s first hit as a scout was Tyler Bertuzzi. I think there are some similarities between Spence and Bertuzzi. Not really. Most of the scoring reports I’ve read on him sound very similar to Bertuzzi, but agree to disagree I guess.I see none at all between the two.
Bertuzzi was underutilized on his junior team which is how he was ranked so low. His skating TODAY isn’t as good as Spence’s now. But Bert has always had great offensive instincts. His issue is being completely unable to play any type of system.
Spence is a ++ level athlete but his instincts and smarts are way off.
Would you be in favor of Detroit drafting him at #13, or no?I wrote up a prospect review on Carter Bear. Free to read, no paywall:

Agreed, not sold on Spence’s upside. Even if he does end up hitting as a decent player. I don’t think he is going to have a ceiling that will leave teams kicking themselves for passing him up.His skill level is above average for a junior. He doesn’t use his teammates well and like I said, his hockey sense looks like a major limiting factor.
Spence is a very meh pick for me. I think he’s a low ceiling kind of guy. Still a first rounder but more likely a 20+ pick.
I don't always agree with them, but I do think they put some legitimate time in.They know hockey but I take their prospect stuff with a big grain of salt. Theres poeple on here I trust way more
A floor of Konecny probably goes number 1. A point per gameish, good all around player with a mean streak and one of the biggest pests in the league? Easily in the running for 1st
I think he's a reasonable selection at 13. Like I said in the article, a line made up of Kasper, Bear and MBN could be very good. If he hits he's probably a 40-50 point forward capable of 20-25 goals. If he doesn't, he'd still be a quality bottom 6 forechecker who could score 10-15 goals.Would you be in favor of Detroit drafting him at #13, or no?
Wasn’t sure because I thought you were kinda low on some of those grades you gave him.I think he's a reasonable selection at 13. Could be an option. Would definitely want him to play college hockey next year if we pick him.Thoughts on Ben Kindel?
I don’t view him as a play driver and I think he’s mostly a power play guy. His 5v5 play will depend heavily on his line mates.Wasn’t sure because I thought you were kinda low on some of those grades you gave him.
Good thing he is only 18 years old and not a finished product. If we trade back i wouldn't mind taking himI see none at all between the two.

None will be thereEklund, Bear, or Martin. Whichever one is there, I will take. If all 3 are there, I’d take Martin.
Aitcheson would be a solid pick, there are some nice physical elements to his game and if he hits his ceiling he'd a great fit alongside Mo, Ed, and ASP. The fact he PK's so much and was shifted heavily late in games to protect a lead is a great sign IMO.If Kashawn Aitcheson or Jackson Smith are available you take one of them. This seems like a no brainer.
We have a giant hole at LD in our top 4 and no prospects that look anywhere close to filling it.
Bear will be there, not sure I like himNone will be there
