2025 DRAFT Discussion

Toward the end of Mantha's time with the Wings, it started looking to me like there was something else going on beside the lack of motor. I really think he mentally processed the game too slowly. If things were going according to his plan, he was moving his feet. Sometimes, his coasting looked to me like him taking almost a full second to try to figure out which direction he should skate, now that the situation on the ice had changed.
yes add quick thinking to motor when building the foundation of an nhler

He's the swing for the fences pick that the wings could use now that they've had some of their guys hitting the league and they wont be bottoming out any time now. Fits the MO of what the front office likes too.
my sentiments exactly . seeing how coordinated and handed he is at that size shocked me . hes rugged , can haul the mail n dangle . i doubt hes still there but if is i dont hesitate to gamble vs injury cuz this guy could become a high level 1C

I think Yzerman will score a good depth player in this draft with his first pick. Hopefully he gets a nice depth player with identity. That will be a hardnosed gritty 2-way guy. Bear looks to be a guy like
Carter Verhaeghe. I'll take a guy like Verhaeghe with the 13th pick all day long.
Hoping he packages the pick for Byram. Another depth player won’t help us much.

Buffalo seems to want hockey trades, not more rebuilding lotto tickets.

Also, all I keep hearing about this draft is that after the first five or six guys, you start getting into prospects with various obvious flaws to their makeups. That 13th pick isn't going to have a ton of value if you're trying to pull back a good NHLer in a deal.

True. Take your chances. This draft has toughness around the 13th position. I don't hate this draft especially considering how soft DRWs currently are. We are seeing in the playoffs how important nasty/tough depth is.... Wings lack significantly in this area.

Watching the panthers play an extremely greasy style of play with zero repercussions and absolutely dismantling some amazing teams tells me that that’s how this team should be built. If Martin is there you sprint to the podium for him. This team is going to have to be built similar to them. Kasper martin and MBN would be an utterly disgusting line to have to play against.
