2025 DRAFT Discussion

I'm surprised you don't like Frondell more. I think he deserves to go top 5 in this class, and I have heard teams may consider him at 2-3.

I don’t hate his game and think he’s a top 10 pick for sure. What I don’t like is that as a center he’s never been the play driver and offensive creator making his line click. Never been f1 causing disruption on the forecheck. He’s seldom the forward down low in his zone facilitating the breakout. Also, he’s already super physically mature so how much more developmental runway is there for him?

I think he’s going to be a good support player but not THE guy. Maybe he’s the Kotkaniemi of this class? I think he’s a smarter player thank KK but there’s a lot of parallels to their game.

Haven't seen enough of him to have a super strong opinion, but I feel like he has traits that will translate well to the NHL level. I really like his shot. Especially when comparing him to Desnoyers.

If the criticism is that he isn't going to drive a top six line in the NHL, that same criticism probably applies to all but three forwards in this draft class. I think he is probably logical between 4 and 9 in this class. I wish he was a tad quicker but I think his game is very translatable.

It’s translatable but I think there’s a couple more guys that look like better play drivers at center.

Schaeffer
Misa
Hagens
O’brien
Desnoyer
Eklund
Bear
Martone

Those are the players in my top 10 I feel drive play up ice better. There may be a couple of others. When I watched Frondell I can’t recall him ever being the primary puck transporter. It was always his wingers.

The lack of high end IQ and any explosiveness in his skating are what stop him from being that sure fire top 6 center to me.

I only see three NHL centers on that list. If Frondell can stick in the middle he would be joining a very short list. I personally have zero issues with his IQ, especially in the offensive zone. Like you, I don't think it is a given that he sticks in the middle at the NHL level but he probably has an even money chance to do so.

You can be a play driver and be in another position. And that’s just something I don’t see much of in his game.

I also think there’s a 50/50 chance he sticks at center but I think it’ll be dependent on him having wingers that can move the puck up ice.

Reminds me of the center version of Zadina.

EDIT: not saying the guy is a future bust.

jackson stock lowered with iq concerns but size n skates make him a good gamble who might still be there as im prefering size more n more while watching florida turn hockey into football games

I am really torn on McQueen, but seems like it is a moot point because I think he is going top 10.
The way I see it, Yzerman have couple of players he likes in the first and you know he likes play it safe and not going to make same mistakes Holland did.

Reschny tied for 4th in our poll for the player this forum wants to take with the 13OA pick. Button has him available at 13 and pumped up his playoff stats. I don't know enough about him to have a strong feeling. I get the sense he's not a great skater, which is a concern for an undersized center.

I think he will be a really good junior player, but a ho-hum professional player (maybe a league average 3rd line winger). 13OA is too early in my opinion.

I am completely indifferent (and genuinely under informed about him because he played so little this year) about him. If we somehow took him I could respect it as a swing at someone's conclusion that he has real upside. If we passed on him, I also would not complain.

Zharovsky 36 fack ...if we’re not making deals for significant players I’d like to see us stop being p***yes and move up 3-5 spots for an eklund Martin O’Brien whoever and move up if possible from 44 for zharovsky

Deal Berggren, wallinder,Rasmussen a finnie or whomever. Time to be agressive we stockpiled our pool we can be go after guys we actually value

Reschny is not my first choice, but he had 25 points in this year 11 playoffs game. I've seen different numbers of his hight 5'10, 5'11, not really undersized, smart, hard working, good playmaker 2 way forward

You have him higher than me. Reschny looks like top 6 or bust to me. His skating might top out at league average. His passing and vision are good but not great and I don’t think the rest of his skills are anything special. I think there’s a higher likelihood of him busting than being a 60+ point top 6er.
