If this team can't turn it around and we end up being sellers at the deadline, dangle whatever you can to try to get a mid/late 1st and pick Cameron Schmidt (if he falls that far).

Size concerns be damned, if this kid can be on pace for almost 80 goals in the W, he's doing something right.

What's Stevie gonna sell? The zamboni?

I know it takes time but what’s this going to be a 10 to 12 year rebuild?
Alright, because I've seen some NJ fans tossing shade in another thread lately...

It seems they are being held up as a team that has rebuilt "properly." It's also been 7 years since they drafted Hischier 1st overall. I'll take that as the start of their rebuild, though they picked 6th and 12th the two years previous to that.

Seider was picked 5 years ago. Now, NJ had a great year two seasons ago, but also totally flopped last year. So...take it for what it's worth, I guess. It looks like it took a team that rebuilt successfully 7 years, which is a timeline that I think looks pretty similar to us if it works.

...just adding that NJ has Hischier(1st), Hughes(1st), Nemec(2nd), Hughes(4th).

Overall top 5 picks.

Detroit drafted Raymond(4th).

Overall top 5 picks.

In those 7 years.

Any of these guys that you folks more plugged in to amateur hockey are especially bullish or bearish on? I’m hoping to start to get eyes on a little more NCAA and OHL this winter. Had a lot more free time for viewings during COVID.

I have only had a cursory look so far, but I would say I like all of the guys HP has ranked top 10 for now.

So Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Frondell, Martone, Bear, Carbonneau, McQueen, Eklund, Ryabkin.

I think Eklund would be a great target for us, and everyone who liked his brother should be squeezing for that. I have heard a bunch of people say they not only play exactly the same but look exactly the same on the ice. I would guess Hakan might be a fan of his.

I need to do more research on some of these guys beyond that. Lakovic and Reschny are guys I find interesting from the WHL. Murtagh is interesting from the USDP. Desnoyers is having a nice season in the Q.

Seems to be a down year for the U.S. The USNTDP teams both (under 17 and under 18) have poor records this season, and the U.S. team looked overmatched against the Canadian team last night in whatever tournament that is.

I think Eklund's kid brother is a fine prospect.

In the late teens.

He's nowhere near as good as his brother at the same age.

Give me Martone plzkthnx.

Okay, whose my smart, shifty, pass-first playmaker whose overlooked because they are either a) too small b) too thin?

I don’t think the gap is that big and I think we’re at the point where adding a winger like this makes sense.

Then again I thought his brother was pretty overrated and he’s starting to prove me wrong there.

I am going to try to watch some of Desnoyers in the Q and Lakovic in the W at some point. Both of those guys are bigger forwards and having pretty nice season. I also feel like more players will emerge across the pond over the next few months.
