So the proper way to express pessimism about the current roster is to show optimism about the draft position?

Copp doesn't suck, he's getting us better picks! Am I doing it right now?

Sorta of...

You also have got to compliment and horde every prospect like they're future hall of famers too. Say things like you "see it coming together..." Then name 8-14 prospects that haven't played in the NHL like everyone will absolutely make the team(in 3 years).

Circle back an justify any move that's stupid like Walman and explain that we're not in the room... "we" don't know.

Lol, to be fair... you are negative, I'm a critical guy and I think you judge the team harder than me. I get pissed when they don't do good, I think you actually enjoy watching them fail and telling us about it sometimes.

I feel like it's a big waste of time. I've been watching those picks for so long. I know more about them than actual NHL players. We are not going to be bottom 5 , so it's too early. Also we don't have idea if we have any draft picks in the first or we have couple of them.
Imo,

Too early to tell either way to make a choice you're going to tank.

Making the playoffs is extremely important. We do not want to follow the tracks of teams like Ottawa/Buffalo and maybe lump the Utah hockey club.
(Endless rebuilds).

I'm looking for direction more than anything this year. Sitting still and drafting because we have no talent is over, we have an NHL roster, it's time to do the nitty gritty and get stars. It was easy to improve the worst roster in the league year in and out but we're not that anymore. The progress now will be harder to achieve than what Yzerman did earlier in his time here. It requires getting better players than what he has vs just collecting NHL quality players.

Yzerman can't just sign guys off the street and consider them upgrades, it's basically the first year this has been true in his time running the wings. He made a mistake with Ghost, and looked great with Talbot so far, but those types of moves from here on out will shape the Wings. Done are the days now were we sign Gustavsson and he's an upgrade over guys on our roster. Yzerman actually has to sign quality over quantity now. It was easy early when everyone he signed was literally better than 75% of the players on the roster/organization.

I do not. If Copp won the Conn Smythe, I'd be the first to kiss his ass and change my profile to whatever we agree on. (I'll even agree to actually physically kiss his ass, and apologize in person.)

I certainly did not expect Gus, Tank, and Holl (before last season started) to suck as bad as they have. But they suck, and I was quicker to readjust my expectations than others. I was also hoping Talbot would make up for the lackluster UFA signings... and he sorta has so far, but I can't expect him to steal games at the current pace when the team gets outshot by a wide margin every game.

It is what it is. Higher draft picks! Yay.

If this season ends up being a flop, maybe it’s time we finally get lucky for once in the draft…nyr, nj, phi, Dallas have all jumped 5+ spots…maybe this year it can be us???

Porter martone is going to be a 100pt wrecking ball in the nhl imo. Absolutely exactly what this team needs both in terms of what’s missing and in terms of team identity. A forward corps with MBN, Kasper, Danielson, Larkin, Raymond, Martone. Ugh.

Hey, when the team kinda sucks still, what else can I do other than daydream about the future !!
Lol, it's true, I'm mostly trolling I hope people understand this sometimes. I don't think ANY of those prospects suck either; they're just unknowns right now with high upside.

I daydream of franchise altering trades almost weekly. Fixated on the Pettersson situation right now, soon it'll turn to Kaprizov... Unrealistic but whatever. I keep picking the best players in the league because you can't just "draft" them, but you can just go draft someone like J.T. Compher in almost any round between a 1-3 year time span.

Couple risers from the WHL:
- Cole Reschny - Stats, Contract, Salary & More
- Carter Bear - Stats, Contract, Salary & More
- Lynden Lakovic - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Also this kid is playing on a team with Austin Baker and is actually leading the team in points as a first time eligible:

I think we will be drafting somewhere in the middle. That being said, for now, it’s either Charboneau or Mrtka for me

Not sure we're quite bad enough for top 3 (unless Larkin or Mo goes down), but I think we might be bad enough to get Misa or Frondell, which would be great.
Well we are currently tied for 3rd last and so far have had zero serious injuries soooo

Milton Gastrin looks like a Yzerman "type" pick on paper. Strong skating Sweden who plays in the SHL and a 2-way center. That's all the research I've done. Have not watched any highlights. Lol

But he fits the mold.

EDIT: there's a reason why Y picks all these Sweeds, Kronwall and Lidstrom get to see these kids frequently.

I should start looking more into Hagens. Who goes 1st overall this year? Do we need pure skill Hagens, big body Martone or another top D-man in Schaefer?
I think Schaefer will be a stud 1D but is the wrong pick. We have zero game breakers on offense and need it desperately.

Hagens goes 1OA, but most likely at least one of Martone and Misa will be available at 3-6, so if we truly do end up being that bad, one of those guys would be a hell of a consolation prize. Martone especially is a unicorn - I think he will be a Matt Tkachuk 2.0 type, really really important player and exactly what we are lacking.
