NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

The Combine could play a role in whether a few names enter into the discussion for top 4 - 10.
I see the top 3 as locks but a lot can change after that. A guy like Mrtka, with his size and skill set can have a few GM’s envisioning a potential Victor Hedman. A poor man’s Hedman no doubt but who predicted Charas career?
A lot can happen but we’ll definitely get a chance at a top line player.

Was looking at that Chara draft year, where he'd be the #1 pick in a redraft.

In the redraft, 13D chosen in the top 25!

In the real draft, 12D chosen in the top 25.

But only 4 of those 12 are actually in the 13 you'd put in the redraft. That's kind of shocking. So many of the D came in the later rounds.

I know all the talk is about the first round pick — rightfully so — but who do we like in the 2nd and 3rd?

Going off Tankathon, we own #51 overall, #63 overall (that could be #61) and then #69 overall (nice).
51 . Henry Brzustewicz - RD/Theo Stockselius - C
61 Peyton Kettles - RD/Maxim Agafonov - RD
69 Alexei Medvedev - G/Alexander Zharovsky- RW
100 ?
5 round or later Artem Gonchar - D

At the end of the second round, they had played 12 games.

If the next two rounds go 7 games, that's a possible 14 more games.

12 + 14 = 26 so 50 percent of that is 13.

Marchand played game 13 last night. That condition is met.

The only thing now that can make it a 2028 pick is if it's top 10, otherwise, it's 2027.
Excellent, thanks for putting it in language that I can understand.

I guess the question then is what constitutes “significant”

If your threshold is “any” or “surgery” then you’d pass, if your threshold is “severe with 3-6 month recovery” or “never will be 100% again” then different story. Surgery science has come a long way since the Bobby Orr

Wait what? Florida has played 13 games, and can only play 26 total now, Marchand has played 13, so the trade has already met the requirement of 50%
Yeah, I found that article very confusing. Dom straightened it all out thankfully.

If the Bruins get Martone I think they will be happy with his performance going forward. He put up 98 points in the OHL. He has played in World tourneys and put up points against skilled competition all the way back to the under 16. He has skill , NHL size and weight and will only get bigger. I have my doubts sweeney will grab a player from the CHL going by past records. Just throwing this out there.

O'Brien or Eklund. Unless someone else falls. I really like O'Brien's hockey IQ and playmaking. Elite. Love Eklund's motor. Don't think you can go wrong with either.
Yup I’m here

In another Bruins life McQueen or Martin

Let’s say McQueen passes combine with flying colors, does somebody take a chance on him in #3-#6? Top 10? If he falls to mid-late first for any reason, do you try to move up for him? I’d already like to move into the late first or early second.

I hope someone does, then he isn't on the board for the Bruins, and someone I like better is

There is another condition as well.

Florida can trade their 2026 first round pick in another deal thereby bumping Chicago to 2027 and Boston to 2028.

Few are reporting it but some places are reporting Florida can trade that pick until the end of next season, but I was told that they had to trade it by this past trade deadline. Every trade tracker you can find says "if they own that pick" or "it becomes a 2027 pick (Chicago) if Florida does not have a first round pick in 2026" or some variation of that.

I'm probably the wrong one here.

I really think that you should spend all your 1sts on forwards and then just throw a million darts at D and G and hope you get lucky after that.
