Its certainly going to be an interesting draft. After the top two or three its all over the place in mocks that I look up.
Damn it Dan, I'm seeking therapy to forget that (and a couple other little "issues" lol). It drove me bonkers at the time. Mark Howe was an awesome D-man. IIRC (too lazee to look up but didn't the Bruins draft both of them? Too bad Sinden didn't have the Crustal Ball to tell him that whoever signed Gordie H. to a rich contract would be buying the two sons too. Hindsight is 20/20 so I'm sure that I'm wrong about most of the facts anyway.Basil McRae was good
Bart Crashley
Btw if you didn’t see the documentary Whalers that just came out
Mark Howe says in 1977 the Bruins who held his rights offered him a 5 year deal which he was going to take - but the stinking Whalers wanted the whole family. Mark was going to sign with Boston, Marty with Montreal and Gordie would end up retiring. However, Colleen Howe basically told Mark if you don’t go to Hartford he’s done so he didn’t want to do that.
Mark said the Bruins 5 year deal was a lot more than the Whalers or WHA could afford.
Insane - Cherry Lunch Pail Gang from 77-79 would have had Park & Howe but of course altered everything that came afterwards
Call me crazy, but drafting 160lb wingers (Eklund) scares the shit out of me...
It's what, 5 weeks from this Friday?
Going to crawl by
Watch the highlights of Eklund, if he weighs 160 lbs, he is mightily strong, he is so hard to knock off the puck and is fearless about going into the corners.I guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks, but I seriously doubt he is 160.
He’s not going to be a jack of all trades line driver. He prefers to play a more pro game of chip and chase. Hes going end up a winger with a deadly shot that will work well with a playmaker and be a go to PP shooter. It’s his ability to get his shot off in traffic is what sets him apart of others in this draft. He is also quite good along the boards already which again makes him more suited to wing. The fact he is one of the youngest in the draft and still out muscling men is a good sign of an NHL future. My concern is hockey sense - physically yowza but I’ve seen questionable decisions
If the paid scouts convey to me he’s got high or good iq I’m fine
There is a reason why I love reading you - the Frondell assessment is so bang on. I was thinking similar as looks more as a winger with a deadly shot not a center. He’s not going to be a jack of all trades line driver. He prefers to play a more pro game of chip and chase. Eklund is more of the jack of all trades guy and line driver. He will stir the drink on a line he does everything effectively but definitely needs to put on more weight for the NHL. His only real draw back since he likes to battle.
It all depends on needs and since the Bruins are lacking a quality shooter after Pasta and they don’t have anyone really as dynamic as Eklund he’s a good selection too. So either guy fills a need of top end talent albeit in different facets. It’s why they make good linemates and wish we could take both!
If we could go back and somehow get Park to go with Orr how crazy would their history beDamn it Dan, I'm seeking therapy to forget that (and a couple other little "issues" lol). Besides the Howes, if the B's drafted Brad Park in IIRC 1966 imagine the defense then with one of Park or Orr always on the ice. (I don't know how the B's signed Orr without going through the draft, if there was one when they signed him or since he signed a "letter of agreement" with them at 14 years old, did that supersede the draft for that year?
Problem with putting them both on the PP was on display for the ten games that they
played together. NEITHER one of them would shoot. Back and forth, back and forth with barely a shot.
He is kinda off the wall - I loved Robert Thomas in 2017 and he didn’t have him in his top 31 so…..Button is such a tool lol. He just puts out the weirdest rankings to try and be different. He was such a bad GM too.
Well, Boston's full of Irish people so I don't think size matters too much there.I’m not going to be surprised if Hagens slips. Not a lot of smaller stars in the league right now. With Florida currently setting the bar, size will likely matter.
Nashville per Jeff Marek definitely not passing on HagensI’m not going to be surprised if Hagens slips. Not a lot of smaller stars in the league right now. With Florida currently setting the bar, size will likely matter.
There are injury concerns with Frondell.Remember Frondell is an 07 and Eklund an 06. I prefer Eklund, but Frondell being younger can’t be ignored
Neither can I. Nothing against him, but I would stay away from McQueen @ #7.I can't see the Bruins passing on Martone, Eklund, and Martin in favor for McQueen.
Haha.None, not one of the 2015 three were able to do a pullup. Of course it was at the workout at Ristuccia after the draft
with the big wheel's and the media all there to gloat over the three firsts.
He seemed to recover fully and had no issues second half of season, but I’m no doctor. There are injury concerns with Frondell.
Knee injury concerns. And he is just 18.
I know. But again, knee surgery and prior knee issues at 18 is a legitimate concern. He seemed to recover fully and had no issues second half of season, but I’m no doctor.
I don't dispute any of that. My issue is with the Laws of Physics...
Force = Mass x Velocity.
He's seriously lacking in the Mass department and durability should be a concern in the NHL.

No O’Brien and McQueen 5
Button was on the podcast 2 weeks ago with Sophia and lot of good stuff but his love for McQueen is present
