NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

draft-prospect-sam-bennett-keeps-his-chin-up-over-chin-up-flap.jpg

It happens more frequently than you think. Here's Sam Bennett in 2014, unable to do one.
Based on that, I’ll settle for a guy that couldn’t do a push up.

It’s why this stuff is so hard. I’d have written off the guy above as not having the drive not to show up to testing able to do all the stuff he had to know they’d ask him to do. Weak and not dedicated.

Today, the guy above still might not be able to do a chin up. We’ll never know because he always elbows the tester in the head and the guy is always so concussed he isn’t saying shit.

10. Victor Eklund, LW, Djurgarden (Allsvenskan)

Eklund is small but fearless. He plays fast, with edge and consistently gets under opponents’ skin. His feet allow him to win races and stay disruptive. In a high-tempo, high-pressure series, he will be valuable even though he’s 5-foot-11

Athletic 5/16 Pronman

I don't think O'Brien was a big producer at even strength like the article says.
It’s both, he produces well 5 on 5 but he is a wizard on the PP and playmaking. Just someone that is great at disguising passes and faking them. While I like Eklund at 7, I wouldnt be disappointed in O’Brien. He will be a few years away so to build strength, but that is really the only weakness he has. Everything else is rock solid

Is that Morris Titanic or Garth Butcher?
Basil McRae was good

Bart Crashley

Btw if you didn’t see the documentary Whalers that just came out

Mark Howe says in 1977 the Bruins who held his rights offered him a 5 year deal which he was going to take - but the stinking Whalers wanted the whole family. Mark was going to sign with Boston, Marty with Montreal and Gordie would end up retiring. However, Colleen Howe basically told Mark if you don’t go to Hartford he’s done so he didn’t want to do that.

Mark said the Bruins 5 year deal was a lot more than the Whalers or WHA could afford.

Insane - Cherry Lunch Pail Gang from 77-79 would have had Park & Howe but of course altered everything that came afterwards

Can I ask...when did 5'11'' become small? I feel like his size is overblown

If he was 5'8" then that would be a different story but even in a league now with Debrincat, Caufield, etc. I don't see it as that big of a hinderance.

Hagens size and play style is much more of a worry amongst the consensus top 10, if you ask me.

Eklund doesn't play small. He gets after it.

Well that’s terrifying
That’s from 5 months ago before he went on an absolute tear in Alvenskan. Cam Robinson personally says he has Frondell between 7-9. Chris Peters is higher on Frondell.

But yes, there is some doubt with Frondell just as there is with anyone outside of the top 3-4, but there are people who really see a high impact player who is just scratching the surface.

Watch this below around 13:30.
