NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

What a bust Lawton was!
He had great stats from High School Hockey ( just like Dean) struggled to be an effective NHL player.
I would call Lawton a decent third liner.
I think the only example of a player drafted from HS to the NHL that panned out was Bobby Carpenter.
Tom Barasso?

This is a mock draft I can live with

I noticed O’Brien moved up on tankathon after their most recent update

I don't think so.

Tried to find the term connected to either Brian's, came up empty.

Certainly Bellows was more hyped than Lawton.
Another Bryan, Bryan Fogarty was supposed to be the next great offensive defencemen coming out of junior but drugs/alcohol did him in. He had 155pts in 60 games during his final junior season. Good size and great skater but his demons bested him and he died at age 32.

Tom Barasso?

Phil Housley was drafted #7 right out of South St. Paul HS and stepped right into the NHL had a great Rookie year.

Three straight years in a row you had a USA HS player go directly from US HS to star rookie years in 1980-81 with Carpenter and Housley and Barrasso in 1981-82 and 1982-83. The last two cane directly from US Public HS Teams.

I personally have the next tier ranked Martin, Eklund, O’Brien, and McQueen. But I think an argument could be made to move them into any order.
My biggest hope is that if one of the six teams ahead of us reach for one of these four that we take whatever one of the top 6 guys that slipped and don’t think twice about it.

Idk about assumptions but saying McQueen will be the only homerun pick left at 7 is certainly a take. I wouldn't take him in the top 20 and people here vastly overrate his offensive ability. He might have great hands but he doesn't put up the numbers and seems to have about as much drive as a snail does.

I dont think hes a home run. I think hes a bust. I think hes the only possible home run left. That possibility is like under 10% in my opinion. And i think the bruins take the chance of a home run vs the chance at a triple, even if the triple is at like 60%

If that's how you view than I suppose that makes sense. I think JOB, Eklund and Jackson Smith have more potential to be a homerun pick then McQueen tho. I challenge anyone to find a player who put up numbers as low as McQueen did as a 17 year old(51pts in 53 games) and went on to become a top 6 forward in the NHL.

I liked this a lot.

Then I saw how low Lakovic was. One of the few I’ve seen here live and he was the second most impressive player from the Dub that I watched all season. Whoever gets him is going to get a steal.
What are your thoughts on Jackson Smith?

Going by his highlights and scouting reports he seems like he should be a top 5 pick. Great skater, really good size, good offensively and defensively. Only thing bad I've read is that he needs to cut down on turnovers when under pressure. Am I missing something?
