NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

there was that other time when I said that Ryan Leaf would be a better NFL QB than Peyton Manning. Sure got that one right. ;-)

I said the same thing about Leaf. Nfl draft guru i am not
Really?

Peyton Manning was a year behind me in high school, and I heard about him when he was a freshman. Manning was regarded as one of the top 10 high school players in the country, but I had never heard of Ryan Leaf until his last year of college.

As far as the Bruins draft is concerned, I’m trying hard to be optimistic.

I was mesmerized by Leafs cannon arm. Didn’t realize that's all he had lol

Honestly, Ryan Leaf had all the physical tools to be an excellent NFL quarterback, but his personality and mentality were not cut out for the NFL.

Almost every NFL player is the best player from wherever they’re from, but they all learn very quickly in the NFL that they’re not the only big fish in the pond. In my opinion, Leaf had a hard time adjusting to the fact that he was just another player, and his raw talent alone wasn’t enough to win against other supremely talented football players.

The draft was on WBZ and IIRC, I broke things when Harry called his name. After all the issues with Orr's and Park's knees, I wanted no part of Kluzak. Nothing personal, just didn't want a d-man with bad knees, and for once I was right. Well, there was that other time when I said that Ryan Leaf would be a better NFL QB than Peyton Manning. Sure got that one right. ;-)
I was going to class and heard on WBZ car radio as I was getting out of car they took Kluzak and was floored - I was 100% expecting Bellows.

The single most stunning moment watching Bruins draft - 2015 was right there but I had not mentally a accepted any players- I was just hoping when 13 came and Barzal & Connor & Boeser where there

Bellies I already had him in the lineup for months

I see your point, but I am not so sure. Would not a ruthless scumbag encourage others to be ruthless scumbags, particularly in their hitting technique say. I get if you're fine with that, but I am not.
You might want to look into Roberts reputation off the ice before calling him a scumbag. He was also no dirtier of a player then a ton of other guys from that era.

Again, he was as dirty as anyone from a dirty era. That excuses nothing. He had his neck broken and started hitting from behind because of it. Does not excuse it for me. As for reputation off the ice, don't care. I am aware he is respected.

Well, suggesting that he's going to teach O'Brien to hit players from behind and that O'Brien would then do so is flat out silly.

This is a mock draft I can live with

Why do you constantly insist on being condescending?

A lot of players went to train with Roberts and became better hockey players for it. Ithas nothing to do with him as a hockey player. In fact, he puts as much emphasis into nutrition as he does training.

like it or lump it I guess....I notice you don't exactly like having someone even mildly disagree with you.

Bellows was tabbed "The Next One" (Gretzky) before the draft. No one expected Kluzak to be picked.

As one would expect, Kluzak's career was over early due to a bad knee.

And Bellows turned out to be way over-hyped. A very good player, but hardly the Next One.

might be wrong here but Roberts might well be considered one of if not the grandfather of combining a robust training schedule along with proper nutrition, kind of a legend in this area?

Roberts won the Bill Masterton Award in 1995-96 for perseverance and sportsmanship.

Someone compared Victor Eklund to Alexander Holtz. I would be really upset If Bruins draft a player anything simillar to that at #7.
no sure who it was but that comparsion to me is terrible. Holtz had an elite shot, questionable skating / hockey sense and effort. Eklund has those last three in spades plus he led his men's team in goals. Holtz was a great goal scorer in the SHL and I would love the Bruins to grab him this summer, but Eklund to me will flourish as an all around guy who could play 2nd line wing for fifteen years.

I have seen at least one pundit say Eklund's hockey sense was a weakness. It seems ok to me from the clips I saw.
