NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th IV

Curious on where McKenzie will have Martin and McQueen on his list when it comes out later today.

Will one of them or perhaps both jump in front of one of the big 6 in Schaefer,Misa, Frondell, Desnoyers, Hagens, and Martone.

Reading AND listening to the Athletic & Chris Peters they feel talking to scouts/teams Martin has crashed the party - O’Brien is highly regarded but the 8th guy but going in top 7 not an issue

McQueen seemed 95% out of top 7 in the 10ish area +/- 1 but they are the Bruins

very much looking forward to Bobby Mac list and article accompanying with explanations

If Dobson didn’t want double digits on his next deal I’d do the 7 for him as part of a multi player package for sure. I don’t see the isles doing it unless hagens is there at 7.

Dobson + Pageau + for Mittlestadt + 7th OVA +?

Are the isles committed to the rebuild? Is Poitras included with others to trade for Horvat or Barzal as well?

Horvat essentially could have been had for a late first+ Debrusk+ a couple years ago so he’s not the target for trading no7 otherwise that’s just more bullshit.

Per EF on 32 Thoughts podcast today-

There are rumors Frondell COULD go 2nd overall to SJ.

Rumor that Hagens goes to Philly at 6 if there.

Also stock is rising on Martin (duh) and Desnoyers.

I don't think that's the big 6. Teams are down on Hagens... many don't think he's a C in the NHL and there are questions about his overall game. He'll be there at 6. Martin won't.

McQueen will absolutely drop.

Who is the consensus guy?
McQueen, Martin, O'Brien, Eklund... One of the projected top 6 that may fall.

I don't really care or have a strong preference at this point. They all offer something different and all have strengths/weaknesses in certain areas. At this point I just care that they don't go off the board and surprise everyone.

Eklund really isn’t consensus for the top 7 though. Neither is McQueen.

JOB
McQueen

Eklund

If any of those guys are available at 7 that’s how I would personally rank them

I select the one player remaining when we pick at 7:
Schaefer, Frondell, Misa, Desnoyers, Martin, Hagens, Martone

If Sweeney and the org are in love with McQueen and take him then I'd be happy with a bold decision from the front office.

It’s because of this I think Sweeney should be willing to package a first and someone like Poitras or Lysell to move up and take McQueen

And I like the two B’s I mentioned in that move
I would credit Sweeney for being aggressive in getting his guy, but moving up for McQueen would be a super risky move.

Packaging assets for a player that will likely be there at 7 anyway would feel a bit silly. Especially given that McQueen has substantial bust potential and the other options that should be on the board at 7 are also solid picks.

I like your list. I think I would rank them exactly the same way.

I would be very happy with JOB or McQueen. Both have great skill sets as well as size.

McQueen will be around at pick 7, no need to trade.
Hope we pass on him.
One of JOB / Eklund is fine for me, we will be very happy.
The only player I see perhaps falling is Martone, depends on what the Hawks do.
