he got injured his rookie season, happens. He was playing well and earned the job. Your dislike for the player is jading the facts. The fans had nothing to do with it. If the fans had a say, Lysell would have been a regular two years ago.
He scored 3 goals in his first 6 games, and has scored 3 goals in his last 60 games, progress in your book, I guess.

Florida did the opposite but they targeted the perfect players all at the right age.

Tkachuk 25, Bennett 24, Reinhart 26, Verhaeghe 25, Forsling 24

They added these guys to a drafted Barkov and Ekblad with a signed #1 in Bob

Bruins have something similar in Pasta, McAvoy and Swayman they just need to target that 25 and under group and shoot big on someone like Elias Pettersson, JJ Peterka, McTavish

Then the other area of guys who have fallen out of favor like Nick Robertson, Jack Quinn, Mavrik Borque.

They can still look around free agency just like the Panthers did with getting Mikola, E-Rod, Kulikov but they didn't overpay and brought them into a system that fits their game (think Luke Kunin, Jeannot, that ilk)

I don't really think the method is that complicated it just comes down to targeting the right players.

Trading a boatload for an often injured 28 year old Barzal is not the same and Pageau is even farther from that.
If I could like this post twice I would 👍🏽 👍🏽

The talk of Marner, Boeser, Bennet, Ehlers.. sounds like overpay imo. Target players 25 & under via trade. Some RFA whose team may feel signing will be a struggle.

Bennett just got con smythe that ain't chicken feed.
Taking nothing away from Bennett and his great playoff run this spring, he’s either staying with Florida for less $$$ or some team going to offer him 7 years at 10m per and regret it. He’s got a Claude Lemieux vibe to his game he can’t play that way forever he will slow down.
Find the next Sam Bennett, and have him be effective with your team before he gets his big payday.

If the Islanders are offering Barzal... I'm torn.

Barzal is a natural center. I know he hasn't played there recently but he's a legit point per game, play driving center. We also don't have to wait 2, 3, 4 years for the pick to be ready... and it takes the risk out of it, we're not hoping we get a Barzal, we actually get Barzal. We'd also be taking advantage of Pasta's prime. Geekie-Barzal-Pastnrak could be spectacular.

On the other hand, we'd be losing those 3-5 years of a low cap hit. We'd be losing out on the possibility that the guy we get is better than Barzal. We'd be losing out on the chance to groom our own home grown #1 center. In 5 years Barzal's contract will be up, he'll be 32, but the 7th overall will just be hitting his stride and we'll have to watch him for another 10 years.

Tough call for me.

Bruins would be forced to use Zacha on the wing for the line to take the draws that Barzal can't win, because he is atrocious at the dot.

I wouldn't entirely be opposed to trading the pick in theory. The question the Bruins FO would have to ask is; is there a deal out there where whatever you trade for the pick that accelerates the retool enough where it outvalues waiting 2-3 years for whatever kid you take in the draft? And i'm not talking about going from "oh no we suck" to "we're a bubble team again."

Pageau certainly isn't cutting it in that regard. Barzal? Love his game a lot but i'm not sure this team is a Barzal away from being a playoff team again give the holes all over the top 9. That would be a much better starting point for a trade though.

That's the beauty of the spot they're in though. Don't like what's out there? Just use the pick. No lose situation.

A) The Pageau stuff came from only Jimmy Murphy. I don’t know why people still take his shit as fact and

2) I don’t know how anyone watched the Final and didn’t think Barkov was the best player on the ice. Baffling to me.
