NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th III

I'm always looking to hit 2 birds with 1 stone. Look what cats did in getting Bennett and MT from Calgary I'm still wondering how in the world zito pulled that off. Those moves created a dynasty team for the ages.
Yes i agree but we don’t have the assets for a big move unless we trade pasta and mcavoy

Poitras looks like he may be a career AHL player. Does he really have the potential to make the Bruin's roster on a long term basis?
If that kid is a career ahler, then the Bruins are at fault for blowing his development. Not saying he should be a star, but he has played well enough in the NHL that the A should only be about putting on weight and filing off a few burrs.

Who says the Bruins are gonna pick at #7?

I'll lay even money that they trade that pick. Either to move up/down, or for an established NHL player.
Wouldn’t surprise me really Sweeney may want immediate help to insure they have a shot to make the playoffs, and not someone who may play for them a season or two down the road.Difficult call would normally say should keep picks and build from the draft ,but then I look at Florida who pretty much did the opposite.

I hope Poitras becomes a solid NHL player. I think he was kind of rushed into the league and he wasn't physically ready at that point in time. He needed to add some bulk not being the biggest player out there. It's a huge jump up from the CHL to the NHL. Most CHL players end up back on their previous squads after being drafted. They are told what they have to work on. Most come back knowing they have to get bigger. I don't see a lot of the prospective players in this 2025 draft that could jump up to pro. Even in the top ten. When you look at the job done on McDavid in the finals it puts things in perspective on just how skilled the NHL is and what it takes to stay on a roster.

Poitras biggeet issue imo is strength. He needs muscle. Has talent just weak right now. Not sure how his offseason program will go but i hope the bruins are working with him to get that strength

Bruins aren't in a position of strength going into this draft. Unless they trade some top players. That would mean a rebuild instead of a retool. Not sure how the owners would look at that situation.
Bruins need a 1C, 1LW, 2RW, 2RHD

This is more a rebuild than a retool. they need to hit on a few draft picks the next couple years, at least at a much higher rate than they have been. I'm talking top 6 FW / top 4 D, not the beechers who hit 100 games but are JAGS that people classify as hits

I would 100% trade McAvoy or Swayman if they netted us the pick for Misa (without giving up our #7) and a young good player or multiple more picks. By the time we get the help we need, McAvoy and Pasta will be on the downhill side of their careers.

He has played well in the AHL, not the NHL, and yes, his development, I think was hurt by rushing to soon to the big club, but don't just blame management although they have the final decision, but the fans demanded the new shiny toy before it was ready.

This narrative has always been bunk. The Bruins didn’t keep him for fan service he flat out won the job. And he did play well.

There's more than one way to win a Cup.

So it was the fans fault Poitras was rushed?

That's a good one!

he got injured his rookie season, happens. He was playing well and earned the job. Your dislike for the player is jading the facts. The fans had nothing to do with it. If the fans had a say, Lysell would have been a regular two years ago.

Keeping the pick all makes sense in the context of a bridge year for the whole team.

It's this concept of absolutely going for it this year that doesn't make sense to me. Develop your team. You can even sign some very quality vets to 1 year deals to help the kids and the locker room.

But very clearly, this team needs to keep drafting and developing. Viewing this as a quick retool to me is a mistake. Play the hand you're dealt.

Zito didnt even pay two slices of bread for those 2 it's truly unbelievable how he pulled his magic trick on everyone. He is the top gm of the league.

I wouldn't call Huberdeau and Weegar two slices of bread.

Huberdeau was coming off 115-point season, 5th in Hart voting (13 first place votes). Weegar had 44 points and was +40 on defense.

Florida also sent a first round pick.

If you look at the entire package I think Bennett was given for a 2nd round pick or something. It's bad real bad. Those 2 players are the best in the world right now.
