NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th III

Was listening to hockey prospects radio this morning on Sirius and they were comparing Misa and Hagens.

Good about Hagens:
Elite passer
Great Edgewood

Negatives
"Privileged"
Does not drive net at all
Very weak game away from puck
Lacks consistency

Scout stated the gap between the two has widened substantially since start of season and he sees Hagens dropping out of top 7.

I hope Sweeney doesn't take him, too many red flags for me, even if this was just one scouts opinion. If Eklund, Frondell or Martin isn't there i hope they move the pick
I hear you and we have the 3 same guys

I saw Hagens live multiple times and he’s smallish and was not going up Main Street which makes a bit of sense - but he attacked the net from outside the dots. He is very skilled - he is about Poitras size.

I’d still take him if there he was dominant in tournaments and when I saw him play at U Mass Lowell and NCAA vs Bentley the majority of defenseman were 4 years older

I will never give up on Eklund he’s my guy but I’ve been brain-washed to the Brady Martin cult . I’m sure Cam is right there as well. The kid is a centaur.

One other thing on Hagens - he wants to play for islanders or Boston sounds like

Gonnnnnna be wild

I hear what you're saying but Hagens just doesn't excite me

Cam Neely draft year
6’1
185

Brady Martin draft year
Brady Martin's height and weight at the NHL Scouting Combine are reported as:
  • Height: 6'0"
  • Weight: 186 lbs
Crazy how some he say he won’t be able to hit in the NHL like he does in juniors. He’s going to grow, just turned 18! A lot of room for growth.

Not saying he’s going to be a Neely, the greatest power forward ever imo, but to say he’s to small at 18 to be able to play a physical game in the NHL, is ludicrous. When he is today nearly identical to Neely size when he was drafted.

Wendell Clark another player who was under 6 feet and 200 pounds. Hitting and being physical IMO will be the least of Martins worries.

Desnoyer just seems like a winner to me. I hope we can get him.
i've heard he's very unlikely to get past 4. some teams apparently have him 2nd on their list.
couple of scouts i talked to last week also think he's the 2nd best guy in this draft. agree
or disagree, that's just the chatter out there. my personal feeling is chicago is gonna look
long and hard at him and frondell (and probably martone), and pick one. and if he's there
at 4, utah needs a 2C with size and grit and all that.

I will say, I think the first negative, calling him privileged is absolute bleep

Since you are there is Hagens the guy who is most likely standing if Martin or OBrien go top 6

The question is, if someone drops, does Sweeney still pick Martin? I think he does. Unfortunately.

O'Brien and even Eklund are both better picks.
How do u know they are better picks ?

I love Martin but i have Obrien ahead of him. I doubt he will be on the board still.

I take Martin over Eklund because I love power forwards who score goals.

If Hagens falls to 7 it’s a no brainer. I think he is the second best forward in draft after Misa.

I’m also looking for centres. That’s why Martone isn’t on my list. I won’t be mad if they draft him I just like a bunch of centres too much to select a winger.

I hope Hagens is gone as Bruins do not seem to obtain great rewards from college players. I would take Martin or Obrien any day ahead of Hagens. Both have good size and look more ready for the NHL rigors.

Just my opinion, but we will just have to wait and see what happens.

I could see Chicago taking a bigger guy, they have gone smaller with their forwards (Bedard, Nazar, Moore) and will look to add size. I would think Martone-Desnoyers-Frondell-Martin in that order. Desnoyers won't make it past Utah who want some size down the middle. Nashville will take Hagens IMO. I think Philly-Boston-Seattle will get O'Brien, Martin and Frondell/Martone (if Chicago passes) in whatever order.
