NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th III

And they could have had Perry even with the trade down, several other players who had better career than Stuart. They just ultimately misevaluated Stuart, decent player, but just not in a class with many of the other players they had an option at either with their original pick or even after the trade down

Absolutely, still I give them credit and I am okay with the miss in the first round as they got Bruins legend Bergeron in the second round.

Desnoyer just seems like a winner to me. I hope we can get him.

The impact of dropping two spots in the lottery has been huge

Had the Bs stayed at 5 so many of the suggestions on this Board become doable ...packaging the 5th plus assets to move up for Misa becomes more attractive to SJ ....trading for Nescas becomes an easier call for Colorado.....staying put and drafting the best player available-knowing there will be at least two top choices

Instead at 7 the Bs are in a good position but can't control much of what happens - who they draft or what trade they might make becomes much more dependent on what the six teams in front of them decide to do

Curse the gods of the lottery and the implementation of the double lottery draw
Is it just me or did anybody else still think we were about to get that #3 slot. Moment keeps replaying in my head. Really screwed us to drop

I’d rather trade back to #10 and reap benefits than move up a couple spots and pay for a player that might still be available at #7. This year is all over the place, and almost any name in the top 10 could have a top 3 career from this draft.

Which is why you don’t dress your stars in the final two meaningless games of a failed season, but I digress.

Honestly , I'm not sure it has been huge. For example if you are using a SJ trade. There is almost no difference between 5 and 7, as there is very little chance a defenseman is drafted at 5 or 6. I'm not sure I buy that Colorado would jump at 5 but reject 7. This draft is so random between 2 and 10 it seems that the players could line up in any order, and it is quite likely the Bruins would end up with a player at 7 who is the same player they would have taken at 5 as their top 5 is quite likely to be different from other teams

Who knows do the Bruins have Martone at 3 or 9? Do they have McQueen at 4 or 14. In both cases there are reasonable arguments for either

Colorado up against Cap

Landeskog fingers crossed back his contract added back in

Still would not rule out 7 going to Colorado for Necas

Genuine question: are you trading for Necas because you believe he makes us a contender again, or are you trading for Necas because you don’t want to waste Pastrnak and McAvoy’s final prime years?

Assume an addition of a Necas-level player gets us on the path to the playoffs (likely in combination with further UFA investment). What does this team look like in 4-5 years after drafting outside the lotto slots and moving our 1st rounders to try and stay afloat?

That to me feels like the point of no return. It feels like banishment to Sabres territory: suck forever. And if you promised me the Cup, I might make the trade, but I don’t believe McAvoy and Pasta are enough to win the Cup if we give them help.

Personally, I’d rather do the opposite and move one or two big assets while the value is high enough to annihilate our trade partner for years to come. No top 5 protected. No middling crap prospects. I want your next three 1st rounders and a solid YOUNG player. Here’s McAvoy, San Jose….Good f’ing luck climbing out of the basement.

I don’t really care all that much about bottom 6 or defense 4-6 in the big picture - they are all easily filled by holdovers, rookies, cheap FA, or trades

2011 example

Bottom 6
Kelly, Peverly, Ryder, Campbell, Paille, Thornton
McQuaid, Kaberle, Ference

Basically a trip to At Home or Home Goods

Necas is legit high end talent~ add to the first line and Zacha I’m 5/6 in and haven’t got to FA etc

McAvoy & Lindholm are up there with any duo

I’m not buying the media brain washing team going to suck

I’ll bet anyone here $100 they get atleast 90 points

We all got Venmo

If any regulars are so sure they are going to suck send me a PM I can use a little extra cash

I would rather draft and sign Necas next summer because I want both lol

Plus I’m going to their Draft party and I want surprise

I like Brady Martin, but draft him b/c he's the BPA at 7OA; don't draft him b/c he's a classic Broons'-type player. It's past time for this team to break the mold and try a different approach to squad building.

This team needs high-end skill above all else.

Everyone I read and talk to tell me he’s got high skill and can play center

Occasionally a super model is both a great cook and enjoys it

So by saying you want Necas; you're really telling us he's going to end up in Vegas?:sarcasm:

Was listening to hockey prospects radio this morning on Sirius and they were comparing Misa and Hagens.

Good about Hagens:
Elite passer
Great Edgewood

Negatives
"Privileged"
Does not drive net at all
Very weak game away from puck
Lacks consistency

Scout stated the gap between the two has widened substantially since start of season and he sees Hagens dropping out of top 7.

I hope Sweeney doesn't take him, too many red flags for me, even if this was just one scouts opinion. If Eklund, Frondell or Martin isn't there i hope they move the pick

Boston Bruins

Kimelman -- Jake O'Brien: The Bruins will pick in the top 10 for the first time since 2011, and could target O'Brien, who elevated his game during the second half of the season with his poise, vision, playmaking ability, and willingness to play hard all 200 feet. The 17-year-old can slow the game down in the offensive zone and find scoring opportunities for himself or his teammates, can check other teams' top players and play in all situations.

Morreale -- Porter Martone, RW, Brampton (OHL):The right-handed power forward (6-3, 208) has a proven scoring touch, leading Brampton with 61 assists, 98 points and 29 power-play points (seven goals, 22 assists) in 57 games while serving as captain. Boston certainly could use a powerful forward with game-breaking potential and Martone, who has been compared to Edmonton Oilers forward Corey Perry, fits the Bill

A fair bit of sports is honor/integrity and Bennett and Tkachuk have less than zero of it.

Such a wild perspective to celebrate it. It is baffling each time to read this.

Celebrating the suckerpunch that ended the Bruins series with not so much as a penalty to Bennett is incredible. Celebrating the fact Tkachuk will only fight Pastrnak. Bennett will only fight Hampus Lindholm. Baffling.
This could not have been written better, GO OILERS!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I said that I liked him as a player; I just said draft him if he's the best player available, but not b/c he's the best Broons-type player available.

We're getting a good prospect at 7OA; we'll probably have our pick of 2 or 3. Someone will drop. Don't know who, but someone will drop, b/c there's more than 7 good prospects and someone will get picked higher than expected.

I hope it’s suspenseful right up till they pick

The question is, if someone drops, does Sweeney still pick Martin? I think he does. Unfortunately.

O'Brien and even Eklund are both better picks.

To move from #7 to #2 if Misa is available...

Pick #7 + Lysell or Minten + Toronto’s 2026 1st + St. Louis’ 2025 2nd

Too much? Not enough?
Too much, If you could do it for 7th OA + Lohrei and then maybe add Beecher fine, but not a whole bunch of future picks, honestly this year's draft is as much a crap shoot as any other year I have seen before, would rather keep all our future picks.
