NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th III

A healthy McQueen probably goes third in the draft. I lived through Gord Kluzak, among others, I would avoid players that already have an injury history like McQueens.
Me as well and feel exactly the same

I’m all in if it’s Martin - sounds like Utah, Flyers, and even Predators infatuated with him. Wheeler believes if he’s not a Bruin it’s because he will be going 4-6

Martin in many ways is the perfect pick for Bruins fans - half will love, half will hate.

To me it’s not an issue if the consensus six are gone

I would take Eklund but I’m very good with JOB or Martin

Who knows who’ll be available at 7, after Misa and Schaffer it seems wide open. You could almost add Martin in there.

One of Hagens, Frondell, Martone and Desnoyers very likely will be available for the Bruins hell maybe even 2 of them, but the Bruins could like JOB better, and he could be gone.

Will be interesting for sure, can’t wait!

If I had to bet it’s Martin if there

this will be fun

I love the confusion going in

I agree, no doubt but way too much chatter/Smoke around him. He himself thinks he won’t get past Utah.

Aitcheson is another wild card for me who could slip in there. Not saying he will, but he brings some nasty and skill that teams love.

Either way the Bruins have a chance to land a very impactful player for years to come.

He played one year of college. I don’t think be is done improving. Give him some time
Lopey, as a fan of the Bruins like everyone else I am hoping Letourneau turns into a solid player going forward. My point is he wasn't playing at the highest level of junior when drafted. This is why I think it was a bit of a gamble on Sweeney's part when he took him in the 4th rnd. Hopefully he works out.

He didn't dig that deep. Letourneau was ranked by most to go late in the first round.

“WHY DOES SWEENEY ALWAYS DRAFT SMALL GUYS”

*drafts 6’5” skilled center who put up 60 goals and over 100 points in a league comparable to OHL*

“WHY IS SWEENEY ALWAYS REACHING!!!”

Had he played in the OHL instead of college that same year, likely he scores 40-50 goals and 50 or so assists

People need to clam down.

Now if he goes 0 - 3 again this year I’d start to get concerned, year 3, 1-4 goals , less than 10 assists, be assured he’ll be no more than a bottom line pivot

Jury is very much still out

not sure he`d put up those heady numbers in his 1st year of Junior had he gone that route, think he might have put up 20-20- 40 type numbers which would have been perfectly respectful

I highly doubt Letourneau would have put up 20 goals his first year if he played in the OHL. You are sadly underestimating the strength and skill level of the league. Conner McDavid possibly the best player on the planet scored 25 goals and 41 assist his first year in the OHL. That is high for any first year player.

Of those 8 UFAs you list I bet 1 actually goes to free agency. Regarding the RFAs, how often are offer sheets used?
I didn’t suggest offer sheets as they’re rare. Some RFA’s want more money than their teams are willing to offer. The battle between bridge deals vs long term deals is common every summer. I’d just like for Sweeney to have the cap space to allow himself to pounce on a trade if it were available. Stop paying 3rd line players too much $$. Use your guys to fill out bottom of the roster. Kastelic Khusnidinov Lauko etc.

Let’s imagine Fantilli wants out of Columbus next summer or wants a bigger contract than they’re willing to fork over, and Sweeney can’t fit him under the cap because he signed Jeannot to a 3m contract.

I hear you. Time will tell.

2 weeks away

Team EKLUND or MARTIN 2025

Give me one Donny

Haven’t looked forward to anything since I took a freshman to my junior prom and she told me I was going to be her first (unfortunately I learned she meant prom date)

Hope this ends better

At 7
1. Any of Consensus top 6 so Hagens
2. Eklund
3. Martin
4. JOB
I’m looking at it this way, is Eklund a scoring winger in the mold of a Reinhart? Is Martin going to play a Sam Bennet style game. If so, which would we rather draft at 7? Man I’d hate to be a pro scout. Hagens Desnoyers Frondell Martone could all be studs

My preference is JOB then Eklund then Martin.
Since Dom's post stating JOB is probably the best playmaker in the draft, he is growing on me.

I don't think it makes sense to have a preference when we don't have the whole picture. We don't know the character part of these players and we don't know the scope of what the off-season plan is.

We may be dialed in on them adding a center because they desperately need a 1C in the organization, but what if there's a deal in place for EP40. It makes it easier to look at wingers or even defense.

JOB might have the most upside but maybe he's got a terrible work ethic. (I assume he doesn't, I'm just making up an example.) A guy we all covet because of his high offensive ceiling might be the next Casey Mittelstadt, 8th overall drafted for his skill but... still can't do a chin up.

Hypothetically, if both Hagens & Martin are there at 7, who’s the pick?
I go Martin. I like the way Martin plays and do not like the way Hagens has dropped this past year. Hagens may well wind up the better player, I can also see him becoming Ryan Spooner 2.0. Martins high end is not top line center but a 55-65 point second line center that plays like Sam Bennett. At worst he is a solid third liner, maybe a smaller version of Charlie Coyle but much, much more physical and involved.

If Martin & Hagens are there , yes Martin should be the pick, however with
Sweeney as the GM with his past history he will most likely select the US born
player and he will choose Hagens, wouldn't surprise me if Sweeney trades up
and gives up a future pick to select Hagens on the night of the draft.

That does not seem exceptional for the first top 10 prospect the Bruins have had since Hamilton/Seguin/Kessel.

They must aim for the potential not safe.

Why should Martin be the pick? I would have zero issue with getting Hagens that would be amazing to be able to pull that off.

He will be gone before Martin me thinks
